| Pleased for him that he's got Batley to a Cup Final after his harsh sacking at Salford after leading them to the play offs.
Two great achievements with unfancied teams must surely put him in contention for a Super League job. Bradford perhaps next year?

| Certainly turned the Bulldogs around, playing some good to watch rugby league at present.Question is does he want a full time coaching role just now?.It was said tonight he was considering some time ago leaving the Bulldogs because of other business committments.

Well I can't see him being paid that much by Batley. A Super League position might be far more tempting for him.

| I think he would be foolish to leave Batley at the moment. I can't see them being accepted into Super League, but if they continue to grow they could be Champions in a few years time.

| Agreed, if his business commitments keep him at Batley it's good news for them and they won't go far wrong in the coming seasons.

| Plus he flattened Ian Roberts at OT in 1994 and even as the other Aussies tackled him he was roaring with laughter.
Roberts left the field.

He was a tough guy, that was for sure. Who were our other props that day? I remember Joynt played prop in the 1st test. I think Skerret was past it at that stage, but I don't think the likes of O'Connor and Sampson had come about. Was it Andy Platt?

Certainly was. And I wish he'd stayed at Wigan longer, greased back 60's hairdo n'all!
Anyway, he'd nearly knocked Paul Sironen's head off with a nasty elbow at Central Park earlier in the tour and done well at Wembley in the 1st Test (even though he injured Jonathan Davies while celebrating his try; Davies had to go off for the rest of the game!). The Aussies were then waiting for him at OT, apparently Ricky Stuart had told them 'if that McDermott starts anything, get stuck into him' (or something similar), so when Barrie did his customary forearm clothes-line on one of them, they all piled in and Barrie got sin-binned. He'd only been on the pitch about 45 seconds!
What would we give for a prop of Barrie's calibre these days? He gave away too many penalties and spent hours in the sin-bin, but they feared him and he couldn't half mix it when it mattered and was wonderful to watch. A devastating player.

| I like Karl a lot, but can someone (braver than me) please tell him how 'defence' is normally pronounced in the UK? And whilst they are at it, point out that we don't have 'offence' in this country, we have 'attack'.

And Sir Alex Ferguson is as clear as crystal. Hardly taints his records does it??
FFS, if that's how you gauge coaches I suggest you stick to Yawnion; plenty of well spoken coaches around.

It's in Barrie's book about that game, he was asked to 'get amongst it' himself as it were, and didn't disappoint.
As for Harrison, I'm a big fan -they don't make many like him any more. Good coach aswell, completely out-smarted Millward Thursday night.
