Could have the forwards like this :-

Loose-Forward - No.8
Front-Row Forwards - Nos.9 & 10
Back-Row Forwards - Nos.11, 12 & 13

Get rid of the scrum and call the scrum-half, halfback; and the stand-off, outside-halfback (out-half for short)

Why do you feel the need to change RL so much? There is nothing wrong with our game. Only minor tweaks are needed when issues arise not the big changes you suggest. Your suggestions would go down better on an RU forum where they belong.

Negatives - Mass short term confusion amongst existing fans. Some fans will never adopt the new name, meaning we've introduced more confusion for newbies.

Pros - Slightly more logical naming, but only if everyone uses it and only until roles in the game evolve and deviate enough to render the names somewhat irrelevant again.

Conclusion - why bother changing it?

I'm all for positive change, but tinkering with no aim in mind is pointless.
