Quote ="chissitt"I think that the arrogance lies firmly at your feet lady, if thats what you are. Who are you to assume that the referee is the only one that knows the rules and not the fans, admittedly most fans dont know all the technical details, but by and large they are talking about the inability of the referee to see the most basic of infringements and the inconsistencies of the referee by penalising one team and not the other for similar offences, fortunately that doesnt happen in our game, its the fans that are blind. As for fans believing what is said on Sky by those two clowns give yer head a shake luv. If the cap fits............what wear it?'"
Exactly and I guess in your case it does.
Let me give you a prime example of people believing and quoting what is said by the SKY clowns. How many have commented and believed that Briers was in an off-side position for his interception try at Cas on Saturday? The fact of the matter is that he was entirely correct to not call Briers off-side as the video of the game shows. At the play the ball, Briers was only 8 or so metres back and although out of play, he was still retreating. He continued to retreat another 4 meters or so to where he was when he made the interception.
Therefore, being then 12 metres or so back from the play the ball, he has regained the position he should have been in at the play the ball, and has therefore played himself onside and is allowed to take part in play. What could be more simple?
The fact is too many judge a referee not based on his performance but on the outcome of a match. As for judging fans on their knowledge then I can only speak from experience and from some of the absolute rubbish some of them spout. The above being a prime example of that. If this makes me arrogant then so be it. It's not something that particularly bothers me. If it did, I wouldn't go out and do the job every week. If this hits home with you then maybe that's your problem, it's certainly not mine.
