Makes me laugh when the big screen shows the man was clearly onside and Chase clearly wasn't tackled before he played the ball and the fans still boooooo and call the referee a ham shanker!!!

One reason it's a definite penalty (rather than a lost tackle) is that it throws the defenders off-side. This can easily be turned into an unfair advantage if done deliberately.

EXACTLY! same situation occurs when you hear the referee shout surrender, that's exactly what the attacker is trying to do most of the time.

Also i cant remember now but im pretty sure it wasnt a catalan knock on but a knock back?? could someone clarify that.

and of course no team would EVER do that would they, even if the opportunity was there.

I mean ALL teams and players/coaches abide by the rules implicitely.
