Apologies if its been mentioned elsewhere but did anyone else see the advert for the head coach position in the league express today?!?

It was a tiny little advert in the bottom right hand corner of page 9 or thereabouts.

I was surprised, I would have thought the club would be able to attract enough decent applicants without having to resort to placing an ad in the league express! Has anyone ever seen a super league club advertise its head coach position in league express?

From memory (as I was reading a mates copy) it said something about having to be someone whose career is still on the ascendancy and competitive salary and benefits would be offered.

Interestingly it said closing date for applications was May 24th so maybe we may hear something within the next month or so....

suspect it might be a legal requirement that we advertise the position and can certainly do no harm.

Other little nugget I noticed in league express was about dennis moore leaving hull and explicitly stating he was returning to australia so thats another name we can cross off the list.

To be honest I expected no advert and that's why it took me by surprise. It was just something I have never seen done before, a head coaches job being advertised in league express. My description of it being a tiny advert wasn't meant to imply that I thought it should have been a bigger ad but a description to help people find it if they wished along with the "bottom right hand corner of page 9" bit.

You may be right about the legal aspect though, suppose the club has to be seen to be giving everyone the opportunity to at least apply if they wish.

I reckon they already know who the coach is going to be. It could have probably been sorted out before Macca was announced as Engalnd Coach. You have to go through the motions though.

Apparently it's European regulations that all senior jobs have to be advertised in a trade journal to allow equal access to everyone in Europe, or the Commonwealth, to apply to give them equal opportunities. Anyone applying from the former eastern block is guaranteed an interview by law under proportional representation. It's political correctness gone mad. You'll end up with a Polish coach on £5.80 an hour.

It'd be a bit daft to do that anyway unless they'd got a top top name for 10 bob a week or something. Better to open the market and see who is interested. You never know who might fancy the job.

I would definitely like Bradford to consider Nathan Brown for the job he's got Huddersfield playing some really exciting rugby which is something we lack and as turned them from a average side to a top four side.

he'll have something lined up in australia. there's going to be a lot of recruitment over the business end of the season. again!

And if you were a potential head coach, given the option, who would you choose - Hudds or Bradford?
