| It said he "failed to earn a new contract" and that the club "allowed his deal to run out". I agree it seems a bit odd as he looked willing enough to me.
Magrin still un-signed apparently.

| I could understand if we weren't willing to meet his demands which have likely risen now he's played some first team games and got an international call up. If he was being unreasonable etc.
But to not offer a contract at all seems quite odd. He didn't necessarily look ready for regular first team just yet, but he certainly looked to have some promise.

I would also understand that. But the wording of the article seems to suggest he wasn't offered anything.

| I wouldn't be shocked to find him plying his trade elsewhere next season.
Not saying he's the finished article by any means but the potential seems to be there.

Could he have been one of the 'unsettling influences' which offset the past season?

| Gutted. He was no James Bentley but I expected him to be a regular feature in the side next season competing with Minchella for the LF spot!

| We don't find out the true facts about things such as contracts being allowed to run out.
There inevitably will be a reason why they don't fancy him but that article doesn't shed much light on it.
We don't know if they did make an offer and he turned it down hence the club letting it go.
All we can do is trust that whoever is deciding do have a clear view of him and a reason and hopefully someone better - ready to perform now and not sometime in the future.
Good luck to the lad though.

| Wonder how the search for the bulk of our promised signings of quality is going on.When announced, it did seem as though Chalmers had id'd who they needed to bring in.OK so the World Cup may hold a couple of decisions up ,but I expected smoother transitions really.Biggest worry is that we don't require visa's for anyone..we haven't had much luck on that front of late and it would be nice to have everything in place for the start of the season, if not for pre-season training.

| The visa thing. I think there is a requirement that if a player hits a % of his international games in the preceding 2 years (60% maybe?) then the visa is granted. So someone who plays 3 games in the WC should hit that requirement

| Quote ="martinwildbull"Agree Bulliac he still has to prove himself at our level. After assistant coaching at Manly and being appointed as head coach they came to within one game of the grand final but lost to Melbourne. As some would say, he inherited the team so not his success. Next season, the NRL Grand Final. So agreed, he may be a demi god as a coach in Oz, but here, in the rain and mud and a patched together plus loans squad he has had his problems. So the real test of his abilities at the level of competition and therefore players we find ourselves in, is what he does with a squad of pretty much his own choice and a pre season of more than one day.
I am not so sure that we need an NRL playoff final coach supervising the next few weeks of our squads fitness regime, as HC demands, rather our conditioning coach. Chalmers is the man in charge, not Toovey, and if he is happy to be elsewhere whilst our team go through their fitness assessment and programme design and implementation over the next few weeks, then I trust him. And Cha determines the way he wants us to play, so if Toovey does not stay he will appoint another coach that appears to match his requirements and ambitions, whether Oz demi god or Gloz full god. The idea that our success for the whole season depends upon one man being at Tong for the next few weeks is just incredulous.'"
I would agree with most of that. Not sure we need an Origin level coach at this level, we someone that understands the intricacies, of bog standard violent rugby league, which is what the Bulls are up against. Toovey (or whoever) being at Tong now will not make that much difference over the season, but with signings needed, it would be more advantageous if the new coach was in place asap, before players looking to move to us, sign elsewhere. The uncertainty does not look good for lads wanting to make life and rugby plans.

That's correct Highlander.
Any potential targets would need to play a minimum of three games in the RLWC2017 to qualify for a visa.

That would rule out Danny Brough then ( not that he would need one)

The only fullbacks who played who are probably a realistic target for the Bulls is:
Mason Cerruto
Corey Maklim
Kristian Freed
Out of them my personal choice would be Cerruto followed by Freed.

| We seem more interested in announcing the players coming to the reunion dinner rather than squad signings. With a small squad announced and some players p/t you would find more people at a giants v Salford game than will be up at tong today

I wouldn't pay much attention to the post you quoted. More likely he's deduced that since 6 teams played that morning, all of which were from the lower end of the international spectrum, that those are the teams Bradford are most likely to sign a player from. So by saying what he does, if they actually do sign one of them, he can make out that he knew about it. Playing averages.

Did Shannon McDonnell play for Ireland? I know he's only playing park footy in Australia.

| If I had to guess I'd say the only team we have a realistic chance of signing anybody from is USA. PNG are catching the eye and anybody half decent will be snapped up by one of the clubs from the divisions above us. I didn't watch the Italy v USA game so can't really comment on any of their players other than Shipway who scored a nice try against Fiji in round one. But he's a second rower and we don't really need any more of those.
As for playing fullback, I'd offer Oscar Thomas a deal for next season. Certainly not ideal but I think he's good enough for League 1 and is versatile (can sort of cover the half back positions). Failing that there is always Lee Smith, Pickersgill and Ethan Ryan who could do a job there.
Anyone else surprised that Sironen's future still hasn't been announced? I know he went back home to get married but his agent can still sort something out for him in the meantime. I really thought someone would have snapped him up straight away but the rumours seem to have completely dried up.
If he's signed elsewhere and it's just not public knowledge yet then fair enough. But if not, I hope we're making regular calls to his agent. He'd go great in League 1.
