| Another good performace, not too much to add really to what has already been said.
So, do people think we have starting playing so much better?
I don't think we've been far away from this type of form all year.
The bounce of the ball, rub of the green, etc has started to go in our favour finally, Menzies try was a perfect example of this.
Last point; what's the view of the Macca knockers now? I appreciate it's only 3 games, but people must be starting to realise we aren't (and haven't been) THAT bad

18 months of ineptitude!!
I think that's over the top.
My question is: Do you still think he isn't the right guy to take us forward?

| 2 seasons of ineptitude for me, it started in the 2007 play offs vs Wigan.
Macca is not the man to take us forwards for me, and if you want any evidence why, well just look at us languishing in 11th right now, backwards we have gone, not forwards in 3 3/4 seasons.
Tim for change in my books.

i think wait until the end of next year. i think however nice this run is, it's too little and probably too late.
if next season pans out like this one then we'll need to look at getting somebody else but atm we'll have to make do.

I'd go with that too.
Some of the reasons behind the downturn have been well publicised (and for now justify, for me, our position)
However, I accept we can't hide behind this forever.

| Typical. I go away for the weekend and miss it. I was out of mobile coverage and emerged back into civlisation to a text message that told me to stay away in future as I'm obviously a jinx.

18 months of decline then?
Winning three games on the trot when we're under no pressure is welcome relief but IMO it doesn't mean we've turned it around.
Is McNamara the right man to take us forward? After this season I'm not convinced.

Would we have seen that decline with anyone in charge?

There was always likely to be a decline after we allowed so many senior players to leave after 2005. Whether that would have been any less steep under another coach is open to debate, but the fact remains that we have suffered a steep decline. In the end though you can only really go on what has actually happened rather than what may have happened under someone else.

We will see. I'm not yet convinced we'll do much better next year than this I'm afraid. A lot depends on our recruitment.

I think so, yes.
If the decline was inevitable (which I think it was), then you can't really lay the blame at McNamara and Hoods door. Can you?
Would have fallen further with different leadership?
Genuine questions....I’m not trying to argue for the sake of it here, I think there are points worth debating.

Many of McNamara's choices in terms of recruitment have left a lot to be desired, even if you factor in a supposed lack of cash available.
Add to that the decline in consistency and the failure to address weaknesses that have been apparent for months on end and it doesn't look great.

| So at times we have been shockingly bad, as outlined above, and as illustrated by our illustrious 11th place.
So why the turnabout now? I don't buy the "pressure's off/nothing to lose" theory, because if thats true then it makes the other games an utter disgrace in terms of professionalism of the players. I don't believe that the players just couldn't be bothered earlier in the year.
So the blame lies with Macca? Or elsewhere?

Harrison stated that Macca has had a shake up of his assistants and some would not be here next year. Now whether he was just regurgitating an old rumour or was speaking with inside knowledge I don't know. But he highlighted that as a possible reason, perhaps McNamara's patience has run out with a few people? We have certainly looked a better side without Newton as well and I wasn't a big fan of Godwin before recently but he is beginning to win me round on current form.
Who knows, but this year will go down as a disaster unless we really do pull off a miracle and get into the plays offs and record a couple of victories.

| Apologies, if I'm one of those forming AF's drought of positives after the metaphorical flood of negativity in the long gone days of poor form -
Unfortunately I couldn't be in London, managed to make Hudds, but am on holiday in Northumbria this week, so didn't see us romp home on Sunday, chuffed to bits about it though and wearing my shirt with pride in the badlands of Alnmouth! And I try not to comment about stuff I haven't seen.
Unfortunately though I'm still of the opinion that Macca isn't the person to take us forward. In fact perversely it might be that no longer being perceived to have a chance has taken the shackles off and allowed us to relax and play a little. However this is hardly a recommendation for Macca's coaching prowess, in terms of getting the team to deliver when it's 'needed'. Indeed when it was needed - Quins at home, a supposed make or break, we lacked coherence, fight and discipline. Seemingly it's only come together after all was 'lost', which ironically will probably mean we'll still be in with a chance in the last round and then fail to turn up again.
Of course, I hope not, I would love us to keep this up and if that's the case and we build on the recruitment so far and start out the same way next year, whether or not we make the play offs, I will be the first to apologise for doubting the long term master plan. Hope that's positive enough for the moment.
