I don't think Saints would let Wheeler leave, but maybe we could get him on a season long loan deal.

I know the logic behind that sentiment is sound, can't fault it, I would normally agree with you. But... We need two things at Bradford at the moment (ok more than 2 but 2 will do for this discussion!), a stand off and a big name signing for the plege and good feeling factor to get the fans back, and if the big name signing has a link to our glory days then thats just gravy. So leon fits the bill very well.

Therefore frankly at this stage, with the few years we've had, I couldnt give a fig if he goes missing away at Wigan next July, I would be absolutely made up if we got Leon back....

...However, even if the club are/have/will try to do the deal or even enquire I think its the longest of long shots and the smart money would be on Leon at least seeing out his saints contract.

Thank you for your concern but I think that most of us know what we'd be getting and would be quite happy to take the games where he goes missing in return for the Man of the Match grand final performances and the odd occasion when he gets sent off for lamping talentless loose forwards.

And your last comment does sound like you've actually been listening to Eddie Hemmings. The truth is that in the last few years Saints have quite clearly not been able to afford 'such luxuries' in a string of grand finals. I don't blame Leon for this as any team requires more than one player to be able to win games. Please though, don't believe the nonsense spouted about St Helens mercurial ability to bridge the gap between men and mortals, to turn sport into art, to bring sublime beauty to a beast of a game, etc, etc, etc.

Is Luke Dorn out of contract?
Heard rumours that he might be moving to saints, I'd take him to play six for a couple of seasons until Southernwood is ready.
He's been in this country so long he can't possibly still count as a quota player either.

EDIT: Just had a look on the Quins board - he is OOC but also still counts on the quota, which I find amazing tbh.

I think Saints would too, they've always sounded like he was central to their long term plans
