Did you see what happened to kicks in the first couple of exchanges? The wind was swirling around something fierce. Deacon adjusted his kicking keeping the kicks low & therefore couldn't go for length. Catalan didn't adjust and still kept kicking high, with the ball sometimes barely moving forward or at other times (one of their kickoffs) it just kept sailing out.

Criticism is key.

1) On the kick by Deacon, he missed that one. If Burgess had released the ball rather than going alone then we were guaranteed under the sticks and a further two points.

2) Maybe I just don't feel wind then, as I was sweating my cobs off at the game and didn't remember much of a breeze, if anything.

Another good performace, not too much to add really to what has already been said.

I don't think we've been far away from this type of form all year.

The bounce of the ball, rub of the green, etc has started to go in our favour finally, Menzies try was a perfect example of this.

Last point; what's the view of the Macca knockers now? I appreciate it's only 3 games, but people must be starting to realise we aren't (and haven't been) THAT bad

We aren't but we HAVE been shockingly bad. Why is that?

So let's forget about the previous 18 months of ineptitude should we because we've won 3 games on the trot what a knee jerk reaction.

2 seasons of ineptitude for me, it started in the 2007 play offs vs Wigan.

Macca is not the man to take us forwards for me, and if you want any evidence why, well just look at us languishing in 11th right now, backwards we have gone, not forwards in 3 3/4 seasons.

i think wait until the end of next year. i think however nice this run is, it's too little and probably too late.

if next season pans out like this one then we'll need to look at getting somebody else but atm we'll have to make do.

Winning three games on the trot when we're under no pressure is welcome relief but IMO it doesn't mean we've turned it around.

Does that matter. The facts show clearly the current leadership have taken us backwards.

There was always likely to be a decline after we allowed so many senior players to leave after 2005. Whether that would have been any less steep under another coach is open to debate, but the fact remains that we have suffered a steep decline. In the end though you can only really go on what has actually happened rather than what may have happened under someone else.




We will see. I'm not yet convinced we'll do much better next year than this I'm afraid. A lot depends on our recruitment.

If the decline was inevitable (which I think it was), then you can't really lay the blame at McNamara and Hoods door. Can you?

Genuine questions....I’m not trying to argue for the sake of it here, I think there are points worth debating.

Many of McNamara's choices in terms of recruitment have left a lot to be desired, even if you factor in a supposed lack of cash available.

Add to that the decline in consistency and the failure to address weaknesses that have been apparent for months on end and it doesn't look great.
