Although the incoming players don't look to have strengthened the squad overall does nobody else think we badly underperformed for large parts of the season? For example the difference between our starting fullback at the beginning of the year and the bright spark we had there at the end was significant, the difference in Nick Scruton's performances was noticeable and the much derided Platt had redeeming features to his game by the end. If we under performed for a massive slice of the season and finished 9th, even with a apparently weaker squad a par performance should surely get us into the play offs.

I personally think L'Estrange and Hall will prove to be good signings. I'm feeling a little more positive now for some reason, Danny still has most to prove imo, followed closely by Reardon.

I think Rearden will make a significant impact, and give us more power in the backs, and we still have an overseas signing to come.

I think Hall,Le Strange & Reardon will prove to be good signings & if Kearney & Scullthorpe remain injury free could be the same. The main problem for me is Macnamara's reticence to give young players game time. 16 months ago it was clear we weren't going to win anything for a few years so why not give our young players SL experience like Cas were doing & L***s had done a few years earlier & are now reaping the benefits.

Come back when you've achieved something in SL. If we're looking for jokes of the SL era I think you need to take a look at your own side.

I agree to a point, but you can't just send out an entire team of youngsters to get massacred every week. I do agree though that Leeds main strength is their academy system, they always seem to have someone ready to step in to the big time when required (but one at a time). That is why the academy system is so important and *yes, you guessed it, another supporters trust plug* that we try to get as many promising youngsters into our academy system as possible through a supporters trust. It's not going to turn the team around next year, or the year after, but hopefully we will see the impact down the line are reap the rewards just like Leeds have.

Let's not complain, let's all support the team we have whilst trying to help build a team for the future.

Only if you give em game time. Im not saying send a team of youngsters out but last season against Warrington highlighted the point perfectly when we were 40 points down & Macnamara gave Olbison hardly any game time.
Its not the 1st time its happened & the kids will only get better by playing at SL level

I absolutely agree that it would be great to see some academy products sat on the bench and getting a decent amount of game time.

We had our time in the light in the 60's just like your time in the light 10 years ago. Your a medium sized club now, just like Wakefield, only thing is 1 teams in decline the other is getting better every year.

I guess we'll have to see if that decline is temporary or a 50 odd year decline then won't we? You've got a massive amount of improving before you'll get to where we've fallen from. So I am struggling to see what you have to gloat about!

And to add to the observations of my learned friend BB above, I just wonder whether a fan of a team whose attendances dropped 13% (or whatever it was) last year DESPITE the team's performance, and whose club is on a warning from the RFL over its ground and with what appear to be unconvincing plans for addressing it, will be saying this in a year or so?

A little tip for you, my friend: its dead easy when you have had a good spell to turn on and ridicule a previous big beast at that time not enjoying its best spell. But before you do that, you really need to make sure your own house is not built on foundations of sand, but on foundations that will endure.

Oh and where's the 20,000 you used to get? Why is your attendances falling?
