He certainly should do. Much like other players who've left in the past, he may have dwindled a little towards the latter years, but he was a big player for us and a very loyal servant. He deserved to have a proper send off, which of course couldn't happen, so hopefully he'll get something akin to that on Friday night.

I hope he gets a great reception and then I hope our forwards get stuck into him on the field.

he was rubbish against Wire first half, missing tackles, poor kicking, passing to no-one. Second half he went to acting half, with Leulai (sp) at SH & it turned the game.

I just hope that Deacs gets a great reception as he should do, great player for our club and on his day, one of the best scrum halfs around!

I hope the group of idiots (from the Hudds game) don't start to 'boo' him in a football atmosphere type of way!

If he'd have stayed, with Orford coming in he'd have been a bit part player like he is at Wigan, not being first choice for any of the positions he can play. If anything, he'd be less likely to play after L'Estrange, Orford and Kearney all came in. The fact that he's been offered a coaching position to secure his and his family's future straight after he finishes playing would have been a big factor.

Bradford made it clear to him that he wasn't indispensible when Orford was signed, so it's not as if he's upped and left you in a difficult position is it? It'd have been interesting to see if he'd have been able to stay even if he wanted to with the salary cap, as I'm sure neither he nor Orford would have been on a small wage.

Calling him Judas is a tad unfair to someone who's been a brilliant servant to your club IMO.

Not as such. Deacon was only able to be released because Orford was coming, or Orford was only able to be signed because Deacon was going/had gone. So the situation would never have arisen.

Have you noticed how good Wigan have suddenly got, in spite of signing Deacs? It seems to be similar to how good we were for all those years in spite of him being in the squad.
