| Perhaps his new nickname ought to be Stella . . . . .
Joking aside, whilst he has had issues off the pitch ([iand which posters need to be careful of when leaving comments so as not to get RLFANS/themselves in hot water[/i) the thing that concerns me more is the state of his achilles / injury problems.
I wonder why the Hull docs had concerns and the ones we've consulted didn't. Which ones were right - I suppose only time will tell.
We've just got rid of a class player, in Morrison, for supposedly partly the same injury reasons. I hope Stuart's are all behind him now.

| He could be good, but seems like a bit of an unknown what we are guna see from Reardon, as Macca said if he replicates previous form then he will be very good for us indeed. I imagine he has come very cheap allowing us to complete the signings of Hodges, Hayne, and MoiMoi. So we will have to wait and see how Reardon goes next season.

Walker yes, Moore not so sure.
Reardon is a good call IMO, if he's come [irelatively [/icheaply which you must assume he has. If he stays fit he covers plenty of options in the backline and on previous form could well be in the stating 13, plus the quota benefits.
We'll have to wait and see how he is after his injury but I think although its a bit of a gamble, its a gamble well worth taking in our position.
Welcome home Stuart.

Reardon is less risky though as he doesnt take up a increasingly valuable quota spot

| Short term deal so it's up to him how he wants his career to go from here.
Smart signing IMO. If he's knuckles down and keeps himself fit he'll be a good signing. If he doesn't we release him at the end of the year.
I just hope he isn;t the only back to sign for us.

| The Hull docs were bothered because he needed an op to repair his achilles. he's now had it and 4/5 months of recovery.
Also, he pleaded guilty of assualt, so terming him a wifebeater, or thug is non-controversial or subjudice. so we dont have to be that careful!!!
I think this is a good squad signing. He never let the club down before so why should he now? he will be on a low wage with plenty of incentives so if it works, we do well, if it does not, then terminating it or bringing others in is a gnuine option!

| A lot depends on his atttitude. If he's put his recent troubles behind him and knuckles down then fine. Giving him a one year deal sounds as if he's been given an incentive to perform. Just hope he doesn't take his bat home like he did the last time he was here.
However, we're still lacking some proper quality in the backs and are lacking a game breaker or two. We've rather too many steady-eddies or below average performers to really worry the top 8 on a consistent basis.

I reckon Stuart is just as "risky" as Glen was (is?) . . . .
FWIW I fully agree with your quota spot point though (home grown and all that) which is why I clarified what I originally wrote with the word "partly". The key thing on the quota spot, for me, is that we use them all, and use them all wisely.

| If he performs to his ability then it's a decent signing. I'd pick him ahead of Sheriffe but we do need more than 2 wingers as I wouldn't move Halley from what appears to be his best position.
While we don't need another full back (Halley/Platt/Sykes) it's sometimes useful to have someone on the pitch who can drop into that position.
We do need a quality centre as Sykes and Platt aren't exactly first choice is there.

| It just gets better and better doesn't it
Another failure comes back to the club. You know it wouldn't surprise me if the club goes under in a season or so. Theres only so much belt tightning that is possible before things get past the point of no return. I bet the club isn't paying anywhere near the full salary cap right now.

What I didn't want was open season on narly comments. You're right on not having to be too careful - more [imindful[/i - and I happily stand correct on my slack use of language
It could be said that it was my gnuine mistake

| I wouldn't call Reardon a failure. He left Bradford as he felt he was worth more than the club did and was offered a lucrative deal with Warrington. Unfortunatly his time there was blighted by injury and off field troubles.
According to the T&A article Reardon is fully healed up and ready to go and the club have sought medical advice on his injury prior to his signing.
It's only a 1year deal, so if he does well he's a chance to earn and improved contract and if he bombs then the club can cut it's loses.
I for one am happy we've resigned him. He's still fairly young, he's british, he counts as home grown and given his recent troubles I'd expect him to come on the cheap.
Let's give him a chance to prove he can still cut it before we hang him out to dry huh?

| Could still make a decent full back but IMO he was never a winger. Usually serious leg injuries don't improve your speed either. I have not seen him play centre so can't comment but would doubt he improves on what you have ATM.
I was thinking about the accuations of him being a wife beater when I was having a shower this morning - hope this doesn't get me in hot water.

No need for the white colour - none taken.

| Reardon for me was one of the biggest disappointments we signed at Warrington. He was another Daryl Cardiss, ie a good player whose abilities began to wane quite early in his career due to injury, who we signed just at the time he was going on a downward turn.
He had a handful of good games for Warrington and his tackle bust stats were good, but overall he made little impact when he was fit and was injured a lot. A shame because he had looked like a really good prospect around 2002-04, but considering he was supposedly a top earner and Cullen said he was the best kick returner in the league, he didn't live up to his billing.

| He went to Wire for bigger money than he was offered at the Bulls. £75k a year IIRC. I expect he'll be on a fraction of that now.
I see him primarily as a winger who can cover fullback. He was never good enough at centre. At fullback he was ok but rumour had it that gd was too quiet at the back and the team needed a FB who could impose himself and didn't mind shouting at senior players to cover the gaps.
He's another body on board at least, let's face it we have the thinnest squad since super league began (no Solomona gags please).

| A useful addition to the squad I think.
While it doesn't set the world of rugby league on fire, it may prove to be a very shrewd signing and as has already been stated, the length of deal puts the ball very much in Stuarts court. Let's hope he goes all out to prove himself.
