| Quote ="Adeybull"That is what I picked up on too. Any idea what a standard SL contract says on the notice front, especially in conjunction with termination by club under the "26 weeks and not fit to play" clause/s?

Someone - I think it was "The Eclipse" made a curious post recently suggesting it was savings on Solomona's contract (not Tupou's) which were to fund the Bird signing. [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=418944&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45You mean this by the inquisitor[/url
I did hear about them being real unhappy with Solomona at the start of the season so you never know.
It makes a change having a proper discussion with someone who isn't a bighead.

Ironic how the club thought it sense to terminate Tupou's contract yet they cannot afford to do the same with MacNamara's.

| However much they were on we should still have plenty for some quality signings.....
Outs
Solomona
Tupou
Jeffries (?)
Newton
Morrison (?)
I imagine all of these will be near the top earners bracket, so we should have plenty of cap space.

Because I love watching rugby league and Bradford is my team.
We've just had the most unprescedented period of success in our history, we we're always going to have a down time, like we've had before, and like we will have again after our next success. It wont stop me attending as I don't attend just to see us win, or indeed just our team, I like to watch a hopefully entertaining match between two rugby league teams and I still cannot think of anywhere else I'd prefer to do that than at Odsal.
Each to their own mind and I understand fully some people spending their hard earned elsewhere if they choose, its not compulsory attendance is it, and it has been tough watching a 3 year slide and only being rewarded with two home wins so far this season.
...plus if its quieter next year I might get my pre super league leaning post back
'"
We will be there as usual, home or away.
I can't just stop going because the team is not doing as well as they were and like a lot of other people I love RL and being born and bred in Bradford there is nobody else I would even think about supporting full time. I have other teams I like to see do well but the Bulls are my home team.
A lot of us were there and had all the good times when we won most games we played and were always in the finals and winning them, now we are having a rough patch with developing a new squad etc I can't and would not turn my back on them.

It's fans like you that mean clubs in varying degrees of harder times such as Workington, Hunslet, or in soccer Bradford Park Avenue, Leeds Utd and Notts Forest, to name but a tiny handful, survive for the long term.

If you turn your back on them now the next time you turn around there may be nothing left.

I'll be renewing because I'm a fan of RL and Bradford are the team I support. However I'm not sure it's helpful dismissing newer fans - we need more of these not less and we need to keep the one's we've got. Money is tight for a lot of people and there is a lot of competition for discretionary spending. A friend has missed two matches this season and has consequently failed to see us win at home, he first bought a season ticket in 2006 and travels 80 miles to attend, you could hardly blame him not renewing given how frustrating some of our home performances have been, though I imagine he will.
I would have thought most season ticket holders will renew, although I might be a bit over optimistic on that, but I fear we've lost the walk up audience and I'm not sure how they will be attracted back for the foreseeable future.

I think you're right, I have a feeling that we probably have around 6000 stalwart season ticket holders and i too reckon most will renew - as they always have. The biggest problem in terms of next years walk-up crowds (so far) has been not so much the league position, but just how many times we've sent home the fans from Odsal fuming, baffled and despondent and it's [inot[/i as simple as the results, it's what we've regularly served up and it's [ihow[/i we've contrived to lose some games.

| The "home" fans have had a torrid time this year. Unless there's room for optimism before next season I imagine many will be "picking their games" rather than buying a season ticket.

| ill probably renew but ill be hoping for a couple of big signings and tbh a change of coach because unfortunatly for the 1st time in a long while ive actually started to dread having to treck to odsal every week to watch slow, boring, predictable rugby, its only through loyalty and my love for the club thats keeping me going. i can see why families are turning their back on the club its just not enjoyable anymore.

Certainly not, but they are strong signings and will improve us. But they are not the exciting signings we need at halfback and possibly centre. It is probably unlikely we will sign a centre but a big name halfback would do a lot to create some positivity.

Here's a bit more on the contradicting stories, from Gareth over on Substadard:

Two points:
1. We don't know the cost of terminating Tupou, but the MOST will have been 6m notice and that will have been in accordance with the standard SL contract we assume. And anyway, if it WAS 6m notice, it will have become much less than that because the club released him (early...?) to take up a new contract in Oz.
2. Who says the club wants to terminate Macca's contract? You are being disingenuous here. It is people on HERE pointing out that IF the club wanted to terminate his contract (hypothetical, and absolutely no evidence to suggest they do) THEN it could be more than the club could afford. This in response to the clamour on HERE to sack the coach, pointing out that the demands of the mob might just be a tad impracticable - IF the club was minded to listen to the mob.
Nothing at all ironic about it since you are not comparing like situations. More like you making a bit of mischief again!

Of course I'm making mischief, it's my raison d'etre. TBH I'm not bothered whether Bulls sack Macca or not (I genuinely like the guy), but I would like to see a successful Deaconless Bulls team. I have no evidence the club want to sack Macca, it was a response to those who think he should be retained for financial reasons. I reckon 3/4 of pro sporting clubs in this country must be skint. I cannot recollect any other club using the same excuse to keep a coach though.

| Reading the comments on this thread perhaps now is the time for the club to put the wheels in motion to put on some form of offer for season tickets next year?
At present I'm not exactly flush with cash and also my daughter was born fairly recently, so can't see myself affording a season ticket for next year at current prices. It's even more difficult to justify spending the cash when I'm not getting enjoyment out of going to watch them, which is surely why any person likes to follow sport. It's not necessarily that they're not winning for me, it's just utterly frustrating at times watching them.
Reduced prices would certainly make me want to find the cash to get ticketed up for next year though, and may do for others. A full stadium is always better than a near empty one, so wonder if this will be likely? City had the balls to do it.

I'm a very long term fan that hasn't decided as yet. The thing that upsets me the most is all the spin. I'd just love it if Macca came out and said that if some of these players weren't contracted he wouldn't pay them in washers. Unfortunately toeing the party line is doing him no favours at all.
