I know my comment was meant in jest to be honest Mat! I don't think many sensible level headed fans expected Tame to bet the next Lesley anyway.

| I'd like to see Vatuvai on one wing, with Tony Williams on the other.
But I'll settle for Sheriffe and Reardon.

I don't know about that.
His debut in the Challenge Cup Quarter Final at Odsal against Huddersfield, he scored two good tries.

| If we're going to give a young winger with only a few games under his belt a shirt, why not just let Finigan have it??
If we brought in a top quality winger then fair enough, but I don't see the benefit of pushing Finigan further away from a starting spot by bringing another young winger in.

your making an assumption there that this would prevent finigan being other winger. until we see full picture of whos coming and whos going we cant really say whether any particular signing is good or bad.
a lot of the talk about meli for instance has him playing at . so we could find ourselves in position of having finigan, halley and ainscough competing for the 2 wing spots which seems a fairly resonable position to be in to me.
I like what I've seen of finigan so far but I wouldnt like to go into next season with him guaranteed a starting wing spot. If he can continue to develop and keep the shirt then fair enough but we need to have other wing options on the books too.

I suppose that is fair comment, but i'd rather use Sykes as a centre over Meli and put Meli on the wing.
Or tbh, i'd consider keeping Sheriffe over Ainscough, although Ainscough is younger.
Halley Platt Sykes Meli
Ainscough Meli Platt Halley
The top one looks stronger to me.

tbh I tend to prefer the 2nd option. you must have a short memory to forget how poor sykes was at last time we played him their. tbh I suspect platt may struggle to keep his spot too, which is a bit unfair on him after way he's knuckled down this year, if rumours about walker have any legs. sykes and platt for me are ideal examples of utility backs. both able to cover a few positions and not ridiculously expensive.maybe not quite good enough to hold down a starting spot in a fully fit squad but there to give us squad depth we've so sadly lacked this year. Suspect sheriffe will be leaving and halley is only safe because hes still under contract.

It would be criminal not to give Platt a centre spot next season imo.
Sykes played well at 3 for a few games early this season, and if he can get a prolonged run in the centres he may improve (I know, he'll have to work on his defence) and could be a better option than Meli.
I'm not sure how good of an idea Walker's signing would be - yes he can be a good player, but he's coming back from an injury and I think we've had enough risk signings. Reardon's never come back to his best, and Kearney has been good but has still missed a fair few matches.

thing to remember with walker though was that his injury was a broken bone. they tend to heal stronger than they were before the original break. reardon on other hand was a ligament problem and once they start having problems the tendency is for them to be progressively weaker and re-occuring.

It wasn't just a straight forward break though. It was a potential career ender as the bone splintered and went right through his skin, now correct me if I'm wrong but splintered bones never heal aswell as a clean break?

| I really hope we don't sign Ainscough or Walker. Neither are good enough for a side aiming for the playoffs, which is something I hope Bradford are looking to achieve next season at the very least.
I'd much rather us utilise what we already have: Finigan, Wardle, Crookes etc.

cant say I've ever heard enything one or the other as to whether splinter bones heal stronger or weaker. Will be interesting to see how he comes through hull kr u20's fixture. the fact they are considering him returning to 1st team action next week tends to suggest their medical staff have no concerns.

Walker is alot better than Crookes is or will be imo.
Out of all the rumours mentioned, Pryce, Elima, Paleaasina, Fielden, Reddy & Meli are the only ones i'd be excited about. A shame half of them are the unrealistic ones too.

cant see crookes being retained tbh. thing to remember is that while we some very good youngsters coming through, they are exactly that youngsters and we cant expect them to step straight into 1st team and play full season. Even if our youngsters get first shot at the positions we still need to bring in some players to give us squad depth in the short term.

think meli and elima are only ones out of that list we have any realistic chance of signing.

| I think if we manage to get Meli, then he and Platt will be our first choice centres next season with Sykes and possibly Wardle for cover. Wingers can be selected from Sheriffe, Halley and Finigan.
We need to sort out a stand off before we start spending big money on wingers/centres.

But I like Chev Walker as a player and a person and I think we should sign him.

Walker, Platt & Sykes vying for 2 centre spots does sound alot stronger than Platt & Nero imo.

| Although Meli has been playing some centre recently, I think he is more naturally suited to the wing. I'd rather hope we're signing wingers to play on the wing... not to fill in at centre.

Tony Williams may be a good player to approach, as we seem to have some sort of deal to take Manly players lately (Hall,Menzies,Orford)
Uate, from Newcastle Knights is a great player, and would be another player to look at if he didnt cost to much.

| The Hull KR vs Wigan VC League game.
Had to be abandoned after a serious injury to Frankie Mariano (23) who couldn't leave the field of play.
It's times like these where the world of Rugby League comes together and I really hope that Frankie Mariano is ok and makes a full recovery.
It was a game that new Bradford signing Chev Walker, made his comeback in after a 11 month lay-off from a broken leg injury sustained in last seasons play-off game between Leeds and Hull Kingston Rovers at Haedingley.
In which he came through unscathed.

| Walker played ok, but was a bit rusty, made a few errors like letting the ball bounce out of play from the kick-off and threw a forward pass, missed two tackles, but did have some good runs with the ball.
