And if it was tactical, why was that contradicted by picking two larger hookers?

I can answer that. Because our hookers took so long to pass the ball that the kickers had no time.

Hasn't that been in the case in almost every single game this year?

No bias from yourself, Mick.
Really enjoyed the commentary, well done.

| Quote ="Bullseye"Great Mick, here are some questions to be going on with:
1. Was it a tactical decision to go with such a light forward pack on Sunday or were players unavailable due to injury?
2. We seemed to find it hard to build pressure at any time on Sunday with our last tackle kicks often being of poor quality - why was that?
3. The difference in line speed between ourselves and Featherstone was stark. In hindsight do you think the players were sufficiently motivated? How do you gauge whether a team is in the right place mentally before a game?
4. Our second half performance was similar to the first. How much can a coach realistically do during a halftime break to lift a team that is underperforming?
And if he isn't totally depressed by this point:
1. It was great to see the promotion of 6 U19s into the first team squad for 2017. Many supporters see the promotion from within as a way of building a new spirit in the club. Can we expect to see any make appearances in the championship shield?
2. Have you spoken to Marc Green following the Featherstone game? If so are you able to give any assurances on the full time status of the team next season?
3. Much has been made of Batley recruiting a part time squad on a budget of around £200k. Is there any scope for the Bulls to recruit part time players who may be of better quality than their fulltime counterparts?
4. What do you think are the main areas of the team that need to be strengthened in order to put together a better side in 2017?
5. It's been quite a torrid week for you, the players and the supporters. What have been the main lessons you've learnt?'"
All noted. Will be asked.

I'm sure we all have our own answers. I'm just interested in Rohan's opinion.
I would like some sort of confirmation that we were having an injury crisis and the decision to leave out Crossley/Lauaki and Clough wasn't down to some hairbrained scheme.
The poor last tackle options were IMO down to a combination of things. No go forward from the pack, slow pass from dummy half, Fev line speed, our kicker being too far from the dummy half, our kicker not getting any protection from Fev defence, a lack of organisation in the plays leading up to the last tackle to prepare to get a kick away and poor technique from the kicker. Most of that can be worked on - it's simple game management.
I agree line speed has been crap this season. Whether that's by design (but why would it?) or just down to a lack of enthusiasm or fitness I don't know but being as we're fulltime I suspect it's an attitude problem.
Coaches are often fond of saying things in defeat like "there was 100% effort" or "I can't fault the effort". We've heard it ourselves a lot this season but I doubt it's always the case. It's a platitude used to placate fans and the press. The evidence of my own eyes backs this up.

I too would like to hear the thoughts on the prop situation. Clough hasn't played for a few weeks, so one can assume he was injured. Lauaki was definitely mentioned somewhere as picking up a knock, which is why he didn't play (I forget where now). Crossley I've seen no mention whatsoever why he was left out though. At least if it was down to injuries, it makes more sense. If it was down to choice, much like the O'Brien thing, it's hard to see anything other than he got it wrong.
The line speed thing, don't I remember reading some guff about Lowes instructing the team to allow a fast play the ball so they'd be ready for it by the time they got to the middle 8s? Not withstanding the fact that they didn't bloody get there, is that related to the slow line speed? And if so, was it too ingrained in the team for Rohan to change it yet? More questions than answers if I'm honest.
And I agree about the effort. Part of me always says to myself that I can't believe any player goes out there and can't be bothered. Surely it's just not in the nature of a pro sportsman. But then you watch it, and you wonder how it can be anything else with the evidence you see in front of you.

| Dropping AOB, who is lightning quick around the ruck, and who always sparks us up as well as posing a huge threat near the line, was simple idiocy.

Can I second the appreciation for the commentary? I am long term sick and can no longer get to games. Looking forward to the Q and A broadcast.

Hobbo mentioned yesterday that certain players had lied to rohan about leaving the club when he arrived. he also mentioned that some players weren't giving rohan anything in training.

Some sort of imports business isn't it?
Or did I make that totally up?
Hobbo is a fan doing the summarising role for free. If you want someone more professional, best to speak to BCB about paying for someone to do it. Otherwise, you get the local version of Sky's Fanzone. Personally I don't mind it, as he's only saying what most of the fans on the terraces are saying, whilst Mick offers the more sensible unbiased balance, but I appreciate it's not for everyone. He certainly isn't the most biased commentator on the radio though, have a listen to Radio Humberside one time if you want a true eye opener.

| Blunderside is the most biassed commentary ever, imo - they don't even commentate when the opposition has the ball and only mention the game if some Hull player puts in a decent tackle. When the opposition score it's only mentioned in the context of some Hull player missing an easy tackle/ being out of position/dropping the ball etc.
Let's be honest, we [iexpect[/i local radio to be a little bit biassed. It puts them at one with their listener, who is overwhelmingly most likely to be a fan and will be happier with the commentator seeing the game from their own pov. There are limits though...
