| Quote ="PopTart"One long lasting memory for me is Peter Deakin
I knew him before he was at the Bulls, just because I used to buy my Open Rugby magazine at the office down near the bus station.
I used to always stop and talk rugby with him and Harry but not like we were personal friends.
When at Bulls a couple of years later, he saw me walking round the top end of the stand and said hello and knew me by name. That impressed me for a start.
We had a chat about Bradford and the various activities at Bradford and Wakefield. He said things were about to change. There were some moans about the "steam Pig" and the loud music they were playing for the players at the time.
He said, in a very sagely but excited way that he expected to lose a couple of thousand of the old cloth cap briggade with what he planned but would gather 10,000 in their place.
He was proved right of course and I felt he was a massive part of the Bulls growth.
Glad to see his name mentioned a few times above.'"
Yes - just so yes...

| Peter Deakin was probably the most important bit of the whole Bull phenomenon, imo. He was a very sad loss to the game.

| I think he'd have been incredulous if we'd told him by 2014 we'd be on our knees and leaving superleague. All that vision eroded by so much incompetence.

| From a Leeds fan my favorite bulls memory is the 2003 final. Went with my mate a Bulls fan. I sorted the tickets he sorted the transport, a bulls bus leaving from Odsal!
Me in my Leeds shirt coped loads of stick particulary on way back, but shared beers and gave it back and was a good trip. One of the good aspects of our sport. Not sure I would feel as welcome in a similar situation in football.

| My favourite memory is from Old Trafford 2003.
A poor first half, we kept in touch with Deacon's boot.....
Then Stuart Reardon ran at, and dived through, the Wigan line. We were on top, now full of confidence, and Reardon was a well deserved Harry Sunderland winner.
Worst moment, Millennium Magic.

So many to pick from, but tonight ill go with;
Favourite game?
It's a tie between;
Grand Final 2001 (the most complete Bradford performance when it really mattered)
The come back away at Halifax in 1997 (first time I realized we could actually win the title and the first time I ever hugged a stranger when the winning try went in and we all just went nuts!)
Favourite moment?
Putting my "champions 1997" printed bulls shirt on with 10 min to go at the Don valley in 1997, then the final whistle, and then invading the pitch afterwards and shaking matty Elliott's hand. (I got a rollicking from my dad afterwards for risking jinxing it!! ) ....if Carlsberg made memories....
Favourite Bulls player?

I was working in a pub at the time and the miserable sods wouldn't let me take the day off to go to the game. I was sneaking out to listen to it in my car every few minutes. Eventually the locals (of East Leeds) just watched me in amusement as I did a little jig in the carpark. I'll always be gutted I missed that game.

| Massive crowds when winning things. Small crowds when doing badly.
No wonder your club is now skint and suffering.
Bradford fans are long proven as anything but loyal.

| Thank you for your carefully crafted and incisive comments on our situation, John. Thanks to your superb analysis we now know we are just like any other club, and no really..we just hadn't the brains to work it out. Just fancy that eh, would you Adam n Eve it, bigger crowds when we're doing well and then they drop off when not doing so well, who'd have thought it. Worth a Nobel prize is that. Good luck with your PHD.

Yet after 6 poor seasons, incompetent mismanagement, administration twice, still getting bigger crowds than some SL clubs.
You do the great Widnes fans a disservice! What a ridiculous stupid post!

Yet here you are, posting trolling rubbish. And at 9-year old level, to boot. You have therefore proved that you are just a moron. Well done, and goodbye!

| Not to have a go at the proper Widnes fans, but that's reminded me of the time when Widnes beat us in round 2 or 3 in 2005 and we'd had an awful start to the season and they started singing "going down, going down". Then they got relegated and we won the title. To quote Alan Partridge, needless to say we had the last laugh.
How times change though!

| Last nights flick of the "V" from Mr Ablett reminded me of a classic fans day - Warrington away 1996.
Anyone else there that day?
They had a centre named Richard Hanari who scored a try at the shed end which was packed with Bulls fans. He flicked the "V" while running a post try arc - we all went nuts....
At the half time restart, Bulls kicked off - putting Hanari right in front of the fans he gave the V to. As soon as he arrived the song "Hanari is a @@nker" went up. It was SO LOUD - he turned round with a look of shock on his face - which served to make us sing all the louder and longer. Bulls kicked off to him and he spilt the ball, from the resulting scrum Bulls scored and the song started again. You could fair see him shrinking inside his shirt!
We were so loud and unrelenting - he made error after error and in the end he got substituted - Bulls came from behind to win 20-30. Happy days!!
Sad statistic - there were 12 of us back then who went home and away - only 2 remain

| That reminds me of another time the Bulls fans put off a Warrington player – think it was Lee Briers and it was probably at the Halliwell Jones and Wire were taking a goal not exactly bang in front but near enough. The sun was shining in his eyes, so he brought his hand up to shield himself, but he looked like he was waving at us. Pretty much in unison the vast majority of the fans waved back and shouting “Hiya” and the like, that Briers stuffed the goal up! Think he had a good sense of humour about it to be fair.

| I remember a similar incident with Westwood at Warrington at the beginning of the 2007 season. He scores their try and celebrates in the faces of the away end. It didn't work out well for him either.

Yes, I was there and joined in that signing - he gave the V's twice, he did it again behind his back after our first chorus you mention, I remember it being a searingly hot day too, and he just melted away in that second half ...I've never before or since seen a player removed from the game so completely by the crowd.'"
Yes it was hot and for sure - I have never seen a player affected by the crowd like that either.
He deserved it and I lost a lot of respect for Ablett last night - the try says all thats required - the "V" is guaranteed to start trouble.
Which it did!
