| Thought Gale was Quins biggest threat when we played them. Started the season strongly but faded with the rest of the team but a halfback will always struggle behind a beaten pack.
People are asking whether he's a stand off or scrum half? To me, if you need to ask the question then they're a stand off. We really need a commanding scrum half to guide the team around the field but not sure Gale is it.
Personally, I don't think we look in any better shape after this signing unless Herbert's quota spot is to be used more effectively elsewhere.

| Quote ="jockabull"Comes down to a couple of things. He's the only one of the 4 OOC, he uses a quota spot and he may not want to stay anyway.
I think Herbert compliments Gale more than Briggs does and is the better player now his kicking game has improved. Its that quota spot though and whether we have other options for it.
With Briggs, maybe we loan him out, maybe he moves on as he realises he's down the pecking order or his salary is low enough that we deal with it for a year.'"
that pretty much sums it up for me at moment. everyones seems to be assuming briggs will be ready for SL next year and its deffo herbert on his way. Imo we can use all of gale, herbert, jeffries and briggs in squad. Gives us competition for places and proper injury cover for both halves without having to play people like kearney out of position.
Can't really say whether its a good signing or not until we see the bigger picture in terms of who else we're bringing in.
If it were a straight swap herbert for gale then IMO its a downgrade. Their pretty much equal in terms of attack but gale is worse defensively (And poor defense has been our big problem this year). But the downgrade is offset by freeing a quota spot so potentially improving the overall team if the quota spot is used well in another key area. Until we see all the signings we cant really judge whether it strengthens or weakens us.

| Underwhelming signing. Unfortunately the sort of level that many others have been for the past 6 years. Obviously we can't afford any better and we're a lower table club now so will find it hard to get any proven players.
His stats are a very mixed bag. I'm not expecting great things, I hope to be proved wrong about him.

| Good young British scrum half, in the England Knights squad, i just dont think he is what we need. We needed a experianced 7 to lead us around the pitch alongside either Briggs or Jeffries. Anyway weve signed him lets see how he goes, he could be a Danny Brough for us. It would be interesting to see a combination of Jarrod Sammut and Luke Gale, i really hope the Sammut rumour comes off.

| I don't know a heap about Gale if I'm honest, I just hope Potter has done his homework and found us a good un.
I was hoping for some real quality and proven players coming in to the squad for next year. Quality over quantity. I guess it is still early days but I don't expect our current signings to nudge us any nearer towards competing for Silverware.

| Luke Gale will do the offensive stuff and he will do it well, he is a very talented footy player IMO, he will take you around the field, will put players into holes, he also has a good kicking game.
IMO he's a very good signing for the Bulls and he won't be costing you the earth either, the potential is still there for a half back pairing of both Briggs and Gale
His defense does need to be addressed, and I'm sure that it can be
Shame that you lot also want a half back that can do 30 tackles a game

| Well, Gale has scored 160 points this season. Or to put that another way, if he'd scored those points for us we'd have a positive points difference.

| Would only be true if he also set up the same number of tries as Herbert has. Or didn't kick the ball to Wire all day on the home game I guess!

| What price for a Gale/Herbert partnership anyone?
You can't say Gale isn't an improvement on Jeffries.

| As a Wire fan living in London i've watched my fair share of Quins so as a neutral i can say i've seen Gale play quite a few blinders and i like him, always have him in my dream team too.
I personally think he's underrated and i like him, yeah he's a bit light in defence but after todays game against Wire he wouldn't look out of place in that respect.
