Maybe something that could be covered by a small charge, to help contribute to the costs, and perhaps if the hospital thing comes off a bit of subsidy towards the ripoff costs there? And Mick gets a huge rap from the current listeners for his commentary and knowledge of the game, as we have seen GillJ confirm. As I said earlier somewhere, in this at least he deserves praise not mockery.

I've always fancied doing the whole commentary, or more accurately summariser role, but I'm nowhere near confident enough I could keep my language clean, which is why I've never even thought about actually doing it.

I don't mean aiming it at the referees. I mean more one of two situations.

1) The "f***ing go on! Run! Run! F***ing YEEEEESSSSSSSS!" situations.

2) What I now call a "Bullseye Moment" where, for example, Sykes throws a pass into touch when it was easier to score, and you exclaim something like "Oh for F***'s sake!" and walk off

Watching from afar, it looked more like he stormed off -and nearly wrenched the door off its hinges, almost bowling another regular on here over the balcony as he did so...

As for me? I just said "Oh Flip". As Debaser (I think it was?) will confirm.

Ever seen snooker or cricket? Where they have them earpieces to listen to commentry, That would be very useful for new people coming to watch, when i first starting coming to watch the bulls 5/6 year ago i didnt have a clue, i remember 1 time i shouted go on ... and it was the wrong person! I can say that with Steve Ganson having been kept away from Odsal for over two years now, it's looking likely he'll get the Wigan game IMO.

Good post and I'll be getting in touch with the powers that be about this, because I'm sure that they'll be people at Odsal next year that haven't been since the late 90's and could benefit from a few pointers.

Just come off the phone with Richard and Gill and it's now 110% possible to integrate the equipment with the hospital's but the stumbling block remains that £3.50 charge to then listen to the commentary.

I'll see what I can do about it, but with no authority on the matter it looks like we could be at an impasse for the coming season.

Hi Tigertot, I've received a response from Airedale Hospital and unfortunately due to ageing equipment they won't be covering any Rugby League in 2011.

I listened to Mick's commentary today.

And, people, I'm sorry to say...it was very very good indeed.

Would have put BCB and some so-called professional commentators to shame, IMO. It was interesting, varied, articulate and accurate. Showed considerable knowledge of the game, and was only a bit partisan! And he never ranted at the ref once...



Just my opinion, although one shared by the users of the service that I spoke to. They are chuffed to bits, and a couple said what a big difference it has made for them.

I believe the guy has found his vocation. Full credit where it is due Mick
