| scully wont rush back, thats for sure as he's under contract and he's getting paid as much for eating "big macs" and not training as he would be if he was fit and raring to go whilst playing for you!
when does his contract run out?

That's a bit unfair. Most professional players would rather be playing than sidelined -that's for sure (especally when coming to the end of their career). Sculthorpe has a very serious back problem and i'm sure he wished he was fit and playing .
How's Greg Eastwood btw? That player who from what you read in the press is only playing for Leeds because of the money and wants to be released to back to the NRL now he's realised he won't get his WCC bonus.

do you mean the self same back problem that he had whilst he was at wakefield?
shame your club never found this out isn't it?
apparently other injuries were released each time he was out injured to the media by the wakey club in order to protect players targeting scully's dodgy back!

you should stop reading the sun mate!
Greg Eastwood was honest enough to admit that the real reason he chose to leave the broncos and move to the rhinos was the £££££££££'s,so theres no great shock there is there?
i believe that once he is back fit that he will terrorise the defences of all super league clubs and that he will also see his rhinos contract out!
ps why did Matt Orford leave Manly and sign for your mob again, and on such a lucrative contract?

He's not reading the sun.
He's reading the Oz papers.
Same as I was when I started a thread on your board about the reports from Oz, a few weeks ago (it was a genuine question, not trolling, as was first I had heard of it). Sounds like him not being happy is fairly common knowledge on SS, although the fair point was made that it must be hard to be happy if you've been on the injury bench so much since arriving.
As for Orford...last time I looked there were no rumours whatsoever about him wanting to go home. So any attempts to divert attention away from the not unreasonable - if a tad mischievous = question Ewen raised are at best disingenuous and at worst dishonest, would you not agree?
Now if it was ME being mischievous, picking up on another Oz press report, I'd ask say did Eastwood consider a move to Leeds being to a "lesser" club too? But since I don't do mischief, I'll not ask that question, obviously.

| Do i remember correctly that Bradford usually write it into contracts that player must be fit enough to play a certain percentage of games otherwise contract is null and void.
I am thinking specifically of the Tame Tupou situation. It seems harsh i know but we're in a position where he is taking up space on the salary which could be used elsewhere potentially, and it looks likely that it could be 10 months before we see him in a Bulls jersey.

you've clearly got the wrong end of the stick mate, who said owt about him wanting to go home?
i was clearly inferring that matt orford had left manly due to the £££££££££'s on offer from the bulls, just like the £££££££££££'s that greg eastwood had been offered!
www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyl ... -deal.html
and to quote:
It is believed Orford, who led the maroon and whites to the 2008 National Rugby League title, will be paid around £850,000 over three years at Bradford.
Orford will link up with former Manly team-mates Steve Menzies, Glenn Hall and Heath L'Estrange at his new club.
"I always wanted to finish my career in England - this opportunity came earlier than expected, but the chance to play with good friends at a club which is on the rise accelerated my decision," he said.

Not got wrong end of stick at all sunshine! n
Ewen referred to a player who came here for the package (few do not, of course) who is increasingly reported as wanting to go home. Your attempt to try and draw a comparison with Orford failed because the second point does not apply to him. Nice try, though! Maybe the Dear Leader Gordy could do with your spinning skills today...

| Sculthorpe was signed to give the pack a bit of extra grunt because tbh we are light in that area. However, given that at the end of this month he will have been at the club 6 months and not yet pulled on the shirt I think it would only be sensible for the club to look at giving him a release.

| Hope the lad gets sorted soon. Can't be good for him mentally missing all this time.
Did we sign him on a "pay as you play" type contract? In which case he could be costing us nothing or very little? We might end up waiting if that is the case as he does offfer something very different to what we have when he's fit.

There is provision for them in the salary cap Operational Rules - it is assumed the player plays a given number - 2/3 = 18, I think? - of games in a full season for salary cap purposes. Whether you can pay the WHOLE salary as pay-as-you-play, or only part (there are minimum wage issues if nothing else) I dunno?

| I think the reasons behind signing Sculthorpe were good ones but it was always one of those 'gamble signings'. Unfortunately it hasn't paid off so far and we will more than likely need to sort a replacement for him before too long.
In the meantime I hope he has a successful recovery, it sounds like he is having a tough time of it right now.
