| If what Matt has told me via PM is correct then I'll be ok, but I hope it's right.
It wouldn't fair on the club to expect me to pay nearly £400 for a season pass that I won't even need.

| It works out at about 180 a day I think, if one of the next few signings is a big name then I think we will still do it.
If we sign Bibb, Obst & Dorn then I'm not so sure.

problem is were only getting that amount for entire sat/sun/monday period so that reduces number of days by 4. in reality we need to be getting 250+ each weekday to have a chance. If we dont reach 7k before end of this week then I think we'll fall short by at least 1k at the end of the pledge period. dont think we'll see any big signings this week but if we do have one in bag we'll need to announce it next week. If we wait til the last week then it will be too late imo.

| I don't think we'll see any "Big Signings" now full stop. At this rate Andy Lynch will be playing Scrum Half and Scruton at Stand Off. A Team full of Props and Second Rowers, no realistic chance of strengthening in the halves. We also need a quality Loose Forward to help distribute the ball, someone like Brad McKay but that's not going to happen.

| Quote ="Nothus"I'm a current season ticket holder who has yet to pledge.
I fully intend to, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think I'll hold off from doing so now as an 'experiment' so see what - if any - correspondance I receive from the bulls between now and the pledge deadline.
So far all I have received is the original mailshot that they sent out to everybody...'"
You have every right to conduct your experiment. You're the customer, so you may well like being made to feel special by being courted by the club.
It might just be worth noting in passing, however, that it will cost money to woo hard-to-get supporters - and time, and effort. Personally, I'd prefer the money, time and effort to go toward player salaries, transfer fees, and marketing to people who actually don't know about the season ticket deal.
But that's just me.

| Quote ="king karl"me and my mates are typical stay away fans, follow the games on sky and on here , papers etc
10 of us went to a lot of home games 99/05, inc challenge cups etc,
then kids, wifes, beer got in the way...this combined with the Macca era was the nail in the coffin
I can get free tickets thru work and even that wasn't enough to convince the lads....
Then the £60 offer came along, happy days cant wait, potters a great coach gunna make some cracking signings, and get rid of the dead wood
But Elima appart it ain't happening, Ainscough ain't bad but this ain't enough to get the blood pumping
Worrancy re signing and the fact were picking up dregs from salford/ wakefield and dont know whats happening with orford isnt going to get the stay aways back.
So like the other 4k or so "fans" me and my mates are waiting for some big names to be announced or its back to watching it in the pub'"
And again, all that is absolutely your right. But if you and your mates [i[udid[/u[/i pledge, it would make it that bit more likely that we'd spend up to the salary cap, and that bit more possible that there would be some big names to announce.

It was in the T&A paper, not seen a link online yet.
Prices were:
5,000 = £120
6,000 = £100
7,000 = £86
8,000 = £75
9,000 = £67
10,000 = £60
It's just maths really. Divide £600,000 by the milestone and round it up to the nearest whole pound.

ta for that. did i read on a thread that only 60% of pledges have been by season ticket holders from last season? if thats right then surely 8 000 is more than achievable assuming that those fans eventually do pledge.

Why is there no realistic chance of strengthening the halves? Or is this post just a p*ss take?

Addy could fill that role, if Potter thinks he is ready. (It's worth noting that in the NRL there are plenty of teams who just use a Langley type loose as an extra prop)
Back-row will be fine for now, we just need some halves.
Scruton was a stand-off as a junior though, so you never know

Yep, I'm more than happy to go with Langley/Addy as our options for loose forward, one for now one for the future, no worries.
As for "big signings". Going for and getting big signings are two different things. I'm certain the club have/are working on a "big signing" depending on which players leave.... doesn't mean they'll come off though. We're a club that has missed out on the playoffs two years running, we're no longer the first, or even 2nd choice for top drawer players I suspect. New players need to buy into the new coach and the rebuilding theme.
I'm not expecting "big signings", I hope for one, but do expect signings that will help us improve on last year and add to the squad, which Walker/Ah Van/Ainscough/Elima/Hargreaves do IMHO... just need a couple of halves now...

I know, we all are. However I suspect they were talking about signings they [ihoped [/ito make, not that they already had made.
I've choosen not to listen to what might be and judge each one when it is announced and judge the recruitment as a whole once its done.
My point was I'm sure the club are trying to "wet the appitite" but not all the recruitment will be in their control and they might not get the targets through no or maybe little fault of their own.

I agree to a point, but I can understand telling fans what they want to hear at a point when you are trying to change things with new coach new offers new players etc. Especially when not only is it what the fans want to hear, but its also what you are genuinely trying to do as an organization.
They might well be guilty of overegging expectation if some of the transfer targets don't materialize, but I personnally dont blame them for a bit of hype as long as the effort is/was genuinely there to make it happen.
Anyway, we can still hope for a big signing!

| Elima and Hargreaves are a good start, and Ah Van to a certain extent.
Imo, whilst they will improve our squad, Sibbit, Walker & Ainscough aren't the type Peter Hood alluded to.

I can see your point but don't agree. The cynics out their will say it was a diversionary tactic used to divert attention away from the poor season we were having. Also i know of 3 people who had become new fans had pledged on that statement and feeling a little let down at the minute.

Well yes, if you're a new fan basing your pledge on star signings you might be a little underwhelmed at the moment, still time for that to change mind, but I for one (and you I suspect) understand we might not get our targets so lets get who we can and improve the squad. The alternative, not talking up potential new signings or change would have just helped the downward spiral IMHO and I would suggest have us with no chance of meeting the pledge total. In the situation we find ourselves I'm not sure what else the club could do.
Hopefully enough fans, including your 3 new people, come to realise the tough situation we're in and support the team anyway (I know thats a tough sell for new fans but its where we are) with cheaper tickets and the real possibility of more wins thanks mainly to our change in coach. And hope the club come through with a big signing and a resolution to the Orford situation.

If the signings to wet the appitite don't come though before pledge deadline, then possibly so, certainly for people who needed pursuding to get back to Odsal next year.
