| I don't know how long it's been since this news was out, but I'm still finding it hard to accept what has happened. A very tragic day in Rugby League.

| These comments echo the beauty of rugby league, and how it is unparallel with any other sport in the world. We are such a community within RL, and no matter how Newton was on the field, his loss is a truly magnified one for the game. Anyone who disagrees doesn't deserve to be an RL fan.
I loved Newton when he was at the Bulls. Truly did. I'll be wearing my Newton shirt on Saturday at the GF as a mark of respect for him. He was 110% rugby league, and he made a mistake and was punished for it, but I won't speculate the reasons. All I will say is Terry Newton, wherever you are now, you gave me great pleasure in watching rugby league. RIP big man. I'm sure there's a team up there you'd walk straight into.

Spot on pal. ,my admiration and support for Newton is as big as I have had for any player, ever.
I liked him for the exact same reasons as you, he was 100% every single time, even when injured, as he was alot of the time when pulling the jumper on for us.
Terry busted his nuts off for us, and it sucked at the time that a lot of fans couldnt see it.
Shame that the injuries that he tried to fix have(probably) and play on with, led to him taking his own life.
RIP Tez.
As Ive said on my facebook.
Once a Bull, Always a Bull.

| Absolutely gutted when i heard about this. Regardless of his performances for Bradford, he was an absolute legend, a top bloke and an all round rugby league addict. The saddest news to come in a long time in general, let alone rugby league. A man that will be missed by many fans across the board. RIP Tez

| Shocked, gutted and really quite cut up about this news. When Tez signed for us the first thing I did was get his name on the back of my new shirt, such was my love for the guy as an RL player.
As one who suffers badly from depression myself I can completely understand his despair, although not to a level I have ever reached myself thankfully.
He will be missed at Leeds, Wigan and Bradford but also throughout the entire RL community because a minority sport like RL needs its characters and Tez was certainly one of them.
RIP Tez. At least you are now free of your demons. Thoughts are with his nearest and dearest.

| The powers that be did not help Terry's situation, i remember commenting the other week after the Brian Carney interview on sky how they had put the boot in..
I'll remember him for being a great player and for all accounts a decent man, not for a mistake.
RIP Tez.

| Sad news. Just after he'd signed for us some of the players were in the of Bradford promoting the club and we went over to him asked him for a picture with our 3 year old daughter and he looked like he wondered why people were asking him. Got the feeling he was slightly shy about the attention but he signed everything we asked and I came away with the impression of a decent bloke.
RIP Terry

| IIRC it was only a few months or so ago didn't he lose his sister, in quite tragic circumstances? That must surely have had a big effect? And now the family have another tragedy. Hopefully seeing the support of the RL community will give them some small comfort in their grieving.

A few years ago I think, to pneumonia after she had a heroin addiction.
It's all very shocking news. You can only hope he's now found the peace that he was looking for.

| A truly shocking loss!
Rip Tez, great Bulls player, who should have won more in the game, played for three of the biggest teams in club RL marked him out has a cut above your typical RL player, played with a passion that occasionly got him in trouble and probably helped get more bans than he really deserved!
Deepest condolances to his wife and kids!

| Tez if I could speak to you now I'd call you a daft git. So sad that you couldn't see any way past this even if it was just for your little girls and for the undoubted good that would have come from the many years you had ahead of you. Utterly, utterly horrendous news.
It particularly choked me watching Terry O'Connor, Barrie McDermott and Brian Carney trying to make some sense of the news, especially as Tez has only arranged to have a pint with O'Connor the previous day.

| I'll never forget having a beer with Terry just days after he'd been banned at Cardiff during the Bradford vs Leeds game.
He was out in Benidorm with the wife and his child.
Great company and a player who always gave 110% out there on the field be it with Leeds, Wigan, Bradford or Wakefield.
...
Such a sad loss, and my thoughts go out to the Rugby League community and Terry's family and friends.
R.I.P Terry

| As I've posted on the VT my abiding memory of Terry is the times Wigan made a break centre field, you just knew that on the end of it would be Terry & Radlinski. His time at Bradford carried on the control of the game from PTB that Lowes had developed. While Lowes was spontaneous & very often made the wrong choice but got away with it, Terry was far more intelligent than his character suggested & could pick the flaw in the opposition defence as he looked around while the tackle was completed. It's the look on his face at acting half that will be my memory of him in a Bulls shirt.

I said a number of times while he was at Bradford that we'd have done a hell of a lot better if we'd had a few more players with a rugby brain who might have been on the same wavelength as Newton was, as it was he was largely wasted in the teams he played in at Odsal.

| RIP Tez. a very sad loss.
My personal opinion is that the teams he played for should retire the number 9 shirt for one season in his memory.
