League Express reports that Brett Delaney is leaving Leeds as a player but will be staying at their Foundation. He is looking for a part time deal. We could do much worse.

Delaney is past being able to play the way he wants to. He'd miss more games than he'd play. If he was dead cheap then he may add something but according to Leeds fans he's broken. More important we sign up Garside for 2019 and probably Laithwaite and Mikey Wood too.

So far in the backrow we’ve only got Minchella, Milton and Storton signed up for 2019 out of the current 1st team group.

Yeah think that report was wrong (the usual reason). Same applied to Crossley and Chisholm both of whom were assumed to be on 2 year deals according to the official press release but turned out to be 1 year deals.

I disagree. Delaney could still do a job in the Championship. He would bring the type of experience that Kear values. Adding both Webster and Delaney to the squad would help next year.
As Bullseye says many Rhinos fans think he’s “broken” ..... but they tend to be the same fans who lobbied for McDermotts sacking, hailed Sir Kev as the saviour and thought McGuire was also past it.
When Delaney played this past season ( with a fractured eye socket) the Leeds defence was far grittier and didn’t leak points.
We have the basis of a good squad next year. I hope all the unsigned players who featured in the last 2 matches will be with the club in 2019. Webster is signed , hopefully add Laithwaite and Egodo and then a couple more seasoned players to go with the good crop of youngsters recruited by John Bastian. I think we can challenge.

We've got to try and get Jy signed on a permanent basis. Otherwise another club is going to snap him up if they haven't already done.

Delaney be a good one for me. Experienced cover for all back row positions, cover front row as emergency. Model pro, vastly experienced, hard as nails.

It very much depends how fit he stays I think. If he can stay relatively injury free, he'll be a very good asset for the reasons you mention. If he ends up injured more than not, it could be as waste of money.

I should say I don't know for sure this is nailed on. The lad who told me has been wrong before. Just less than he's been right. So I wouldn't take it as definite it's happening just because I've "heard". I'm certainly no 100% trusted source!

maybe a pay as you play deal is route to go down. He'll still be getting awage from his role at Leeds so could suit both parties and removes risk of us being tied down to a full seasons wages if he spends significant time injured.

I don't know how the part time deals are structured anyway. Is it a flat salary, a win bonus only, or payp. Maybe it's all and and one for each individual player.
