You could see what Wilkin was trying to do. He wasn't just going for the ball, he was going to tackle Herbert. If he stops the kick great, if he doesn't then he gets the bonus of a cheap shot on a playmaker.

We had video ref on our side today so the late call was about right i think a draw was a fare result.

Wrong. He just went splat into Herbert milliseconds after the ball left his foot. There was just nothing wrong in that challenge at all. Not. A. Thing.

Penalty or no penalty I think we defended superbly today but didnt really pose any sort of threat on the saints line in the second half.

As for Lynch costing us a point as someone has said is that not Ah Van that has cost us 2 points? missing 2 kicks from bang infront that a decent super league kicker should kick....1 tonight and 1 in catalan

Was a penalty, Lynch was unbelievably dumb to do it, it was a brainfart of the biggest proportions.

Having said which I said at half time that we would lose on a last minute penalty, having needlessly given Saints last minute possession. Well, we didn't lose, but it felt like it. After a;; that effort, why TF can we never, ever, ever learn how to close down the last minute?

Lucky to get away with charging the kicker on the penalty at the end too, just would have meant a chip shot for Foster mind

The fact he was standing still is irrelevant since the ball carrier used him as a shepherd. The shepherd doesn't have to move, standing in an offside position is sufficient.

Thought it was a professional foul by Lynch, protecting his try line, maybe he thought a two point give away was better than a four point loss, didn't blame him in the circumstances at the time and still don't! Very good draw in really bad conditions, if L'Estrange had stayed fit i think we may have been celebrating a good win!

What this thread should be about is whether Childs should have penalised Bradford a second time for illegally attempting to charge down a penalty?

Ref didn't penalise it so it didn't happen. Think of it as being like Chris Joynt's voluntary tackle..............

Think this topic has wound itself into the earths core.

It was a penalty, we were fortunate to escape with not conceding a number of other clear penalties, we drew, would have taken the result prior to the game and should still be happy after it. End of.

I disagree on that i believe we fully deserved the win and infact it was saints who were lucky to get away with a good few clear penalties

All in all the draw was probably a fair result, though yeah, there were plenty of pens which [icould[/i have been given but weren't, particularly for offside which Mr Child didn't seem unduly (or even at all) concerned about, except for not standing square.

Then again, we took advantage if his largesse in that department as much as they did, (McCarthy-Scarsbrook apart, who I don't think was onside at a single PTB all game) so it was pretty even. Maybe it was an advantage to us in a way though, because if it had come down to a penalty goal kicking competition, we would probably have come second best to Foster, who can certainly kick a goal.
