| Back in the day that was probably the only chance you'd get to be able to see the game again.
Nowadays with the advancement of technology, tv shows, sports news channels and the net if you really want to see what happened again you can do so quite easily.
Might be an idea best suited for classic games (GF/CC wins etc) with occasional evenings based around showing them held every now and then, maybe even get a player/coach who was part of it down for a Q and A or something, if possible?

| I don't imagine a regular re-run of the weeks game would be that popular to be honest! Certainly not enough to justify having to pay bar staff I wouldn't have thought.
I would however attend something like Asim suggested.

| I thought we used to do this till quite recently.
However the amount charged for beer at the Bulls now I can't see it being massively popular.
Get caught in the stampede to get out to visit the nearest pub I think.

Because Bradford Northern didn't charge GBP 3.60 a pint.

| It depends on how easy it would be to get the footage as well I suppose. Would Sky be willing to allow the club to use their footage of the games?

We video all our games ourselves.

| I can't imagine how much we miss out by having no social club/bar that people can go to before and after the game as well as when there isn't a game on.
We miss out socially as well as financially because these places bring in income and foster togetherness at the same time. I'd love for there to be a place I know I can go and have a pint with fellow fans even when we aren't playing.
Fresh from our sponsorship co-operative shall we all club together to run a social club?

Well tongue in cheek but yes private social clubs are run on a similar committee basis as WMCs. Probably pie-in-the-sky idea but as I say, isn't the need/demand for such a venue a no-brainer?

As a starting point surely all we need is cheap and cheerful building attached to the ground, but not inside. The licence to show sky live games is pretty expensive, not sure how this would apply to recorded games tho'

| You mean like the pubs/clubs that are shutting down all over the country due to crippling taxes or being locked into contracts with breweries?!
Pre-game it would make sense but you'd have to do some serious research into whether it would be financially feasible at any other time.

| Another alternative is to find a local pub/club that has a room to hire and come to some sort of agreement to use it on matchdays and once or twice a month as a members only type bar. The pub/club makes it's moolah by having the club members using it as their prefered bar on matchdays.
On gamedays you have the pre-match buildup and, facilities allowing, you could show DVD's of 'classic' games from the past.
If this is successful you look at finding somewhere to run it either independently or in conjunction with the club.

I know what you mean, but beggars can't be choosers, but a function room in any social club is going to be pretty cheap, and the ales' cheap too.

| But surely the initial thing is that it isn't where you are, it's who you're with?! Unfortunately the Piste and Sigloo is no more. You need to accept that fact and move on.
The setup and running costs must be pretty high if you're starting from scratch and I wouldn't expect the club to give it too much support initially. If you get it up and running and the club can see that it's got the potential to earn them some money you might get them onboard.
How many 'supporters clubs' have premises independent of the club? You'd need to have the ability to hire it out when not in use, possibly with bar staff, for it to be a success. If OSV ever gets moving it would make sense to incorporate a bar area at the very least - I know whenever I've played football or been to the gym I always fancy a pint!

Only yesterday I watched the 1979 Challenge Cup 3rd round replay between Hull FC and Bradford Northern played at the Boulevard before a 18,000 sell out crowd.
I have over 70 Bradford Northern games on VHS (all are my dads but he's past them down to me) and I can't stop watching them.
For the record we won 8-4 after being 4-0 down at half-time.
I could get Matt to put them onto dvd as he already has quite a few of my old Northern/Bulls vhs tapes.

| It's simple, open the bottom half of the touchdown on a Monday, Tuesday etc and show a classic game,
1996 Bradford 20-12 Wigan
1997 Bradford 68-0 Paris
1998 Leeds 22-33 Bardord
1999 Bradford 19-18 Leeds
etc . . . . . . .
People would turn up to watch these games, I know I would as the club would be getting my beer money.
Add a quiz, get a player to show up for a question and answer and your in business.

| Mick, do the maths. Number of people times number of pints times profit per pint less staff and premises costs etc etc. And then how many would REALLY turn up?
Can't see it being practicable as a big fund-raiser financially.
