| Quote ="Mick Gledhill"Or the ones with the dog waiting.
So what I do is tease it my putting the tip of the paper through and then when it jumps up to bite it, I pull it back and the dog hits the door.'"
A suggestion for increasing pledge numbers:
1) Invite irate dog owners to each match
2) Set up a dog track around the periphery and have Mr Gledhill run (walk fast) past the stalls waving pledge leaflets
3) Release the dogs
4) Run a book on which part of his anatomy they bite first (he is not allowed to bet)
If you put this on the Leeds forum you will do a brisk trade
This pledge thingy has certaily got people talking about Bradford but you will have to do the business on the pitch if you want real converts.

| Another 120 leaflets delivered tonight. I'm feeling really positive after meeting some of the players in town this aft. They all in good spirits and there seemed to be a lot of interest.

This is interesting for those who didn't get an email confirming their pledge. (I didn't and I know some others on here didn't either.)
Quote The Bradford Bulls would like to apologise to a small number of our initial web 'Pledgers' who may not have received our thanks due to a technical fault.
Due to the initial volume of 'Pledges' received during Sunday evening/ Monday morning unfortunately our computer system overloaded, resulting in our automated response failing.
This matter has now been fully resolved, and the club would like to take this opportunity to re-assure any supporters who may have pledged but not received an automated email response that their pledge has been registered and added to our running total, and also thank them for doing so!'"

| I've just got an email from the RFL titled "Bulls launch pledge 10000" which contains the pledge image and the phone, web and text details. Good to see it's going through those channels as well as directly from the club.

| Yep. The criticism of the Super League Website IMO was fair, as they were advertising the Huddersfield scheme, but not ours (which is even better than theirs).
However the e-mail that's just gone out is to that website's mailing list (which I think is the same as the RFL one). And that's gotta be a fairly decent mailing list, so credit to them for doing that. Should certainly help with the prospect of getting fans from other clubs to pledge so they can come and watch games when their side isn't playing.

| Any guesses on what the total will be when the counter updates today then?
After the squad's appearance in town yesterday I'm hoping for at least 4000.

| Impossible to say what would be a good figure at this stage without knowing how many pledges have been received from the more casual supporter that isnt currently a season tocket holder, as opposed to the hardcore following that would have renewed their season tickets anyway.

| This is probably the first time I've actually had doubts about the 10k being reached in time. Really thought we'd have more than that by now.

| There were (officially) over 7k at Odsal against Wakefield. If you are VERY kind there were 1000 Wakefield fans. So that leaves 6k who chose to go to watch a team who have lost 12 on the spin. Surely they would all be in the brackets of a) a season ticket holder who will renew, or b) mad enough to pay £18 to watch the game (I am in the b bracket by the way).
Ok, some of those would be kids, but I'm aware of quite a few people who didn't go to the game who have pledged so hopefully they are just smoothing out the numbers so that when it actually goes quiet, they can continue to make it look as though there is a constant growth.

| we currently need 166 pledges per day.our current rate is well above this at 770.i think the club will drip feed the figures through anyway to keep interest going as more new signings are revealed.

except that isnt the current rate. the current rate is about 300-350 a day. Your averaging it over the entire pledge period which is built up by the initial high take up at the match on sunday. a truer daily figure is found by taking the average from when the counter started on tuesday (2700) and taking the avergae since then which shows a daily increase of between 300 and 400. think figures are being massaged a little by club so we show a steady growth each day. be interesting to to see how figure increases each day over bank holiday weekend for instance when you wouldnt expect anyone to be there taking pledges after saturday lunchtime. suspect we are actually a bit ahead of the 3843 but club are drip feeding the true figure to give them something to announce saturday, sunday and monday. then I'd expect another signing announcement tuesday/wednesday to keep interest up. considering we're over a third of the way to the total well within the first 5 days Im relatively confident we'll make it. A biggish signing wouldnt hurt mind.

thats the point, your using a biased average as the initial data was artificially high due to the high daily sign up at the scheme start on sunday. the true daily sign up rate is no where near the 770 Average you used. the incremental amount the counter goes up by each day is a better clue as to the daily rate, although as I stated I would trust it 100% as suspect club will be tweaking it a bit to ensure a steady rise.

| fingers crossed come next week there is a significant increase once more people have logged on, postal pledges are received etc.
I do hope that we reach the 10k, not just because I get a ticket for me and my boy for a total of £60 but also because of the benefits we will see from bigger crowds during match days. I would have expected a massive surge in the first "week" and personally just under 4k was bit of a suprise to me...
Fingers crossed though we reach it, long time to go yet.

Agree with that, but in reality its a big ask and task.
If the current seasons tickets are 6,000 of which 500 are juniors that dont comply with pledge conditions and we have the usual 5% drop in season ticket holders through death/penury/apathy/moving away then the projected base is a around 5,300.
To almost double this is a really big ask where the major marketing so far has been designed solely around cheap prices with no apparent added value to the "product" either by on the field performance or match day experience.
It's to be hoped that news of both of these come sooner rather than later to reinforce the current marketing initiative whist it is still in people's minds.
As mentioned on other threads there is not clarity as to quite what Pledgers are getting themselves legally into and what the final cost will be. Thus a reluctance to sign up I've found from the people I've approached.
So far the "pledge" figures may reasonably represent a high percentage of the existing current season ticket holders plus some new members, but untill it exceeds 5,300 we wont know if the pledge scheme is on track.
The scheme is innovative and welcomed but has inherent dangers if the numbers are not met and prices need to increase as the club propose. What then will the Pledgors do?
Nor is it certain in any case that even at the lower prices pledges will be honored.
There are logistics re the deregulation of prices in the main stand that are going to cause serious consternation.
No NT from me! hope to hell it all works out and I'll do my best to make it so....
But there are obvious concerns that needed to be stated

| Aren't we assuming that the pledge is automated? It may be that even though they are made electronically (though some on the phone by post), they still need processing? Imagine each one took 1 minute to process - that means one person working full-time on it will only process about 450 in one day. So whilst there may be (many) more pledges made than the total shown, it could be the total shown is the total of pledges "processed". Just a thought - perhaps we need to stop worrying? If the total doesn't rise this weekend is it because people are having the weekend off from pledging or that they are not being "processed"?

You're also assuming that that person is ploughing through those pledges without being human and looking out the window, or having a quite nosy on facebook or the 101 other things people do as a distraction when they've a boring data input job.
Personally I'm pleased with the numbers so far. Only a week in and we're within finger tips of the half way point? I'd say the pledge drive has been a success so far.
