Can we finance a DoR long term?

I think the idea of the position is a good one, so long as the role and responsibilities are very clearly defined. One stipulation for me would be no involvement in day to day coaching.

With regard to Noble, I have mixed feelings really. I'm sure he could bring something to the table, but he isn't bringing in anything new and fresh to the club.
If someone were to come in, would it be better to have a new set of ideas? Let's face it, in a sense we've had the same strategy/idea/method pool for 15years now, starting with Brian Smith....

They did exactly the same thing when Millward signed for them after leaving Saints. They thought they had the Messiah.

I'm really not convinced Noble is the answer, even though I doubt it's true.

It might do you a bit of short term good, but I'm not convinced about his record. I know he won the things with Bradford, but he didn't have to deal with the crap hand that McNamara has.

If Noble comes back he might bring the under-performing Fielden back with him, and we can make him world-class again.

I'v heard this rumour aswell. Noble back our way and he's getting replaced at Wigan by Adrian Lam. I think it would be a negative step if he came in as head coach, maybe as a director of rugby, but if the clubs finances are as bad as reported, then how could they afford to do that? Wouldn't the money be better spent on a centre or a half back?

Opportunity cost, mate. It depends which is deemed more important by the Board. Noble is a good motivator, which is something we could use, but judging by Wigan's current style of play he isn't someone we should be looking to bring to the club.

I'm sure there must be someone. Look at Michael Dobson. He was a relative unknown before his loan to Catalans.
I think that when clubs sell on young players they should put in a buy back clause, whereby they can buy him back for a pre-arranged price. That way we could bring Atkins back. His potential was obvious when the club let him go. It's thing like that that wind me up!

Doubt that would be enforceable if the player did not want to return.

If being saved from relegation in season one, then finishing 3rd in seasons two and three isn't good enough because of a slow start in season four then apparently not.

He did better than Smith did with GB (better in terms that they played with more passion and got more respect from the big two).

Sorry, but anybody wanting Stuart Fielden back should be admitted straight into the nearest mental institution. He was dire just before he left us, and is even more dire now. Infact, I'd go as far as saying he shouldn't even be playing in Super League at the moment.

Big Stu just needs the right props and players around him. The Wigan team, perhaps understandably, have no respect for him and he's the dummy runner more often than not. Bradford showing faith in him would rejuvenate him. But this ain't a Stu thread so pardon my diversion.

Whilst Stu is a shadow of his former self he is still an able SL Prop. He's not the dominant enforcer he used to be, but he still works hard. For an average SL prop wage, I'd have him at Bradford as 3rd/4th choice Prop.

Would happily do a straight swap with maca for me if hes the only one out there....Krusty the Clown is better than noble....trust me he would be no saviour!
