| Quote ="Bulls4"You’re all looking at this the wrong way... the tea lady told me this is all part of the master plan for promotion.
A meeting was held at boardroom level and it was decided to not replace the floodlights and let them stop working. Meanwhile lorry loads of carrots have been delivered to the tong training ground with the lads munching away ferociously.
We will be running rings around the oppo as they scramble around in the dark. We in the crowd won’t be able to see it mind...'"
Also it would be good if we got them flashy boots that lights flash whenever you run, this way we could pass to each other even in darkness, and the opposition would not know where we were or whoi had the ball, until too late.
I understand the bulbs cost north of a grand a pop so if we need a few dozen, there's the problem.
Maybe we should start a bulb fund?

| I've heard there is plotting from our opponents with regard to playing without floodlights- even though this is quite legal under RFL rules which state that " a few candles in each corner" should suffice for Division 3". They seem to think that the rule which stipulates that, "an official should be ready to re-light any candles which are blown out", is a bit vague for such an open, and let's be honest, windy ground as Odsal, and that we might only ne willing to pay for one official, so as to make the ground as dark as possible. However their ruse of only agreeing to play if there is a bell in the ball should be strongly resisted as there is absolutely no such provision under the match rules for this.
I think that RFL objections are silly too. The idea that the referees would be unable to spot knock-ons and forward passes is utterly ludicrous as it is already accepted that they won't be spotted in full sunshine in the middle of July, let alone a bit of twilight.

I understand not even willing to pay for one. Instead they're going to buy a special scanner that detects the lack of light and heat from the candle and re-lights it. However it's unlikely that said scanner will work properly, so they'll have a steward pop down and just wave a match at it in that case.

| A Trin fan here, we switched to 3pm from 3:30pm kickoffs to cut down on lighting costs, i'm told. How many sh*ts would be given if you kicked off at 2pm on Sundays for the next 2 years, didn't use floodlights and bought a better player instead?

Problem with that is most people's batteries will have already died trying to display a bloody QR code that the steward can't scan properly.

| As sub lease Landlord, surely the RFL own the current bulbs, working or not. Perhaps some bright spark there could fill in.

| I totally agree with the last reply, we rent it of the rlf and it’s there responsibility to make sure it is fit for purpose, there quick enough to take the rent, so come on let’s get behind this and get the RFL to sort it

| Don't think the upkeep of the Stadium was in the rental agreement. The rent of £72,000 a year did not include this.

That was widely rumoured but never saw it quoted as actual fact anywhere credible. But another way of looking at is the central funding that the RFL withheld from the the new company was just them getting there rent up front.

Don't think it's re-instated, and it probably won't be until we get back into the championship. Then we'll be back to being resposnible for all the maintenance. All that said, I can't imagine we'll get off with buyng what they might call consumables, printer ink and paper, the leccy bill, light bulbs and tea for the tea lady's urn, etc.

| I suggest we get sponsored by JD Gyms, and get them to replace all the seats in the stand with exercise bikes, hooked up to generator wheels. 2000 people in the stand generating at the rate of 40W each is 80,000 watts.
It might get a bit dimmer after the hour mark.

| A glimmer is better than nothing.
In any case, the exercise cycles sound like a decent idea - With January starts, Summer rugby gets a tad on the cool side in the stand sometimes so it might warm us up a bit. In fact a few of those wind farm machines on the stand roof would definitely be an earner..

| On a very rough and ready calculation I reckon that solar panels on the stand roof would generate at a rate of around 400kW on a sunny day. Whether the old roof could stand the strain of course is a different question, but it faces towards the south and is already at an ideal angle.
What with solar panels, wind generators and the exercise bikes, we could soon be powering half the city

Then when we get back we can certainly claim 'Super League; with Bull Power!'
I have 16 panels which generate about £1700 per annum, and they are old/inefficient. Imagine the income.....but then imagine the cost to cover the roof with em???

| Is there the means to store the power from the panels and use it when it's dark? I always thought the problem with solar and wind power was storing the power until it was needed? Or is that just on a very large scale?
