| So if everything is good then why was the payment late? Your club refuses to learn lessons, yet more panic buying in the last week with money you clearly don't have.

| Quote ="SombreroBu11"Club statement:
A spokesperson for the Bulls have moved to dispel fears and explain the position of the club in regards to the ‘Winding Up Petition’ against the club currently creating concern on social media.
“At this time, the moment a payment doesn't arrive with HMRC they automatically petition for a ‘WUP’ against this club - they (HMRC) have confirmed in writing, this treatment is as a result of the previous regimes and the money they lost.
“Circa 6 weeks ago they issued a notice to ‘wind up’ which merely crossed with a payment being received. The payment cleared and as a result they did not advertise the fact the petition had been issued. Nevertheless despite having no liability to them and despite their confirmation they would not advertise the petition, they said they would not withdraw the petition just in case there was further liability at the time.
“They (HMRC) have confirmed on Friday (1st of July) nothing is owing and that Monday is merely a formality to have it dismissed. We will be having further dialogue on Monday morning to ensure all issues are finalised.”
We would like to apologise to all Bulls supporters whom were concerned with this matter.

Surely the court should kicking HMRC if they are putting forward petitions for no reason?

The responsibility lies with the club to pay on time. If they leave it late enough to for HMRC to start proceedings, they've left it too late!
It's good for the game that Monday's hearing is a formality, but whoever is looking after the finances at Bradford need to pull their finger out.

| Well we clearly walk a very fine line without somebody at the club writing blank cheques when required. Pleased that it has been cleared up and supporters from other clubs can take their false concern elsewhere!

To be honest probably not. I worked with Country Courts for a few years and they were a pain in the backside for getting things cancelled without hearings. If the petition was legit at the time it was filed but the payment came in afterwards (even the day after) the courts often wouldn't dismiss the hearings without someone attending, even if.it was just us rather than the person we'do put the petition in against. I know this is the high Court but the clerical side of it'so not all that different. Most likely someone from HMRC will turn up, confirm payment has been made and that'll be that.

| There's a really easy way to avoid any negative publicity being generated from stuff like this - just pay them on time!
No HMRC liability should ever come as a surprise, every single type of crown debt is known well in advance of payment dates so the club really have no excuse for letting things get to the stage where winding up petitions are issued, even if HMRC are a bit quick to issue them.
If the club are aware that HMRC are going to be a bit twitchy because of what's gone on in the past, then that is even more reason to make sure they keep on top of things.

| Wouldn't it have made more sense to put out today's statement yesterday as soon as they got confirmation that all was ok? Would have stopped rumours before they started. Poor Communication is getting to be a major problem.

by sounds of it, it was literally being paid at same time as they were issuing petition. and given this was 6 weeks ago and has already been paid, signings since then have been made with money we clearly do have. Bit rich being lectured by a fan of a club that only pays its rent when it feels like it

It's hardly a panic buy. The club has needed a half back all year. And clearly the club does have the money as the debt to the HMRC is paid. It was just paid late, which is the one thing you've gotten correct. The club does need to learn lessons

Probably more to do with the court process than the parties involved

Indeed, see my last post. Courts are a pain for insisting on the hearings going ahead, even if it's just a formality.
Edit: I hate you autocorrect on my new phone that thinks it's so freaking clever

| The club paid there debt on time from the statement. As they paid they was issued a court order. No problem. The payment was sent. So what's the problem?????

| I suspect the Club paid on the date due, but that does not mean HMRC's banking system had it the same day after the monies transferred by whoever the Bulls bank with and so at midnight would deem it a non payment and fire out a windup petition automatically!
These days HMRC shoots first and asks questions later
The Bulls might need to factor that one in re payments in future

| Slightly worrying that these issues arise when we are currently 'open' for business. What can we expect come the off season.

Totally agree with you mat, work with a guy who is a Halifax FC fan and all he ever does is moan about the rugby club! To be fair he asks the same question as was put by that idiot halifax fan. How can they sign the players they do with no money?

| If they need cash for the offseason, then early bird tickets are the only way to do it. This year shows people were happy to wait until the week before our first game to get ST

| Personally, I would like to see a 10 month direct debit option. Covering the offseason& the first 6 months of the regular season. But would need good IT & financial oversight to work & I'm not sure we have that yet

Every week some bad news would come out, and you could GUARANTEE a sale in the shop would follow hours later. I often wonder if he applies the same principle to his restaurant. Customer complains about finding a hair in their Bhuna and they get offered 50% off a Garlic Naan.
