| Quote ="bellycouldtackle"Poor old Bryn, one player retires and we have a feeding frenzy re the game in a mess. He will have been very well paid, 50 or 60 thousand plus bonus at a guess, pretty easy working week, lots of hols etc. RL players have never had it so good.
If RL players want to be treated better then they should get rid of their agents, the moment an agent sits down with a club it becomes about negotiating a deal ie the player becomes a commodity, if they dont like this then get rid of the agent.
Oh dear poor lad was upset because someone did not turn up for a meeting. Worse things happen at sea. All sounds a bit weak to me.'"
I do agree with this parts of this TBH
Not too sure about this article, just sounds like a moan to me. Granted it must have been tough for the players, but least he still got paid. He's sort of stating facts about RL been a short career and there not been job security. That's never going to change. What is he wanting, life contracts?

I also cocur with quite a lot of it, if not exactly the sentiment. Hargreaves isn't the first nor will he be the last person to change careers at 26. I did it at 46 FFS (out of necessity too) and many people older than me explore new work avenues successfully.
I suppose he's entitled to have a moan and if a hack wishes to listen then he gets a mouthpiece for his opinion.
However, good luck to the lad, best wishes for the future and thank you for you efforts whilst at Bradford.

He's going to the US of A, a woman is the motive not employment!
No other clubs showed interest in him so he is off!

| I apologize. I got the information wrong on Hargreaves for Wikipedia. My usually good source told me he was of to America to study in Uni whilst working then when he got his degree taking up a management role in the company he would be working for.
But hey not everybody is perfect.

This is why Bryn is upset and spouting off, there would be nothing stopping him doing what he is going to do now at 32/34 years old after a full playing career....
blimey he could study and train at the same time! if he wanted.....

| why does this turn into knocking the lad.
he is an intelligent person (unlike some other prop forwards in the game) who has a job offer in the USA, he has a a beautiful girlfriend and they both want the chance of a new life. Rugby league is played where he is based and i am sure he will be putting his boots on soon.
good luck bryn and thanks for your efforts.

He did actually get offered contracts with other clubs. Also, could have been asked to stay at Bradford if he waited to see what was happening.
He obviously didn't want to carry on playing and thinks his life is better off with his gf and the country she lives in.

| Whatever your opinions of his motives, his assessment of the game is correct.
It's going to collapse in the next few years.
I've no idea what the game stands for anymore, and I seriously think my love affair with the game is coming to an end. It's divided and factional, full of self interest at every level, and appears to governed on an ad hoc 'make up the rules as we go along' basis.
Awful.

Salford and Wakefield! Ouch that really hurt Hargreaves
Who thought he was top dollar! Full of bull
Said he was sick of playing with the shower of at bulls
Always thought he was too good for bulls being a saints and Wigan reject
