true, I've only heard the ranting you did when you were stood next to me on terrace for a couple of years. Hopefully you tone it down a bit when commentating

Possibly, just I might be visiting in a few months & it would be a cool way to spend a few hours. I would like to pass on my personal appreciation Mick for spreading the gospel. Seriously well done.

With Airedale being some distance from both the BRI and St Lukes I don't think they'll be able to pick up the signal but when I'm back at work on Wednesday I'll get back to you with my findings.

Radio Royal/St Lukes sound hope** to stream it via the net yes, giving supporters the choice of listening to a game (more than likely an away game) instead of just BCB.
**When I say hope, it depends on them updating their facilities at the hospital site to be able to stream it as live over the net.

Hi Tigertot, I asked about Airedale Hospital taking in my commentary via email so I should have a reply from Radio Airedale by the end of the week.

Thanks for checking |Mick.
When my dad was in DRI a couple of years back I was appalled to see a bunch of insincere oiks in sub-McDonalds uniforms tryting to sell these types of schemes to people recovering from illness. Papers love to whinge about car parking but allow this sort of crap to go unchallenged.

| My mother was in Leicester Royal Infirmary for several weeks last year. They were just putting in a similar system there.
I guess the point is that patients don't HAVE to use it. But if they DO, the costs are way beyond "steep" and making serious ground on "rip-off".
What is an even bigger rip-off is if you phone (from outside) the bedside phone that comes with the package. Costs the patient nothing, but it cost me about £150 in premium-rate call charges - was something ridiculous like about £1.50 a minute. Be warned! AND you ended up listening to a two minute recorded message first each time.
I guess the thing is, if you go private then you get most of these sort of things in with the room cost. But has anyone seen what the room costs are?? All the NHS seems to be doing is saying you can have some of the benefits of what you might get in a private bed, but - as with a private bed -it will sure as hell cost you.

| A great service this, well done. Given the amount of folk we have on here that are completely myopic about Bradford Bulls I reckon that there should be quite a lot of subscribers for this service.

Yes Bulls Boy, anyone can use them with the visually impaired supporters obviously getting priority and the best thing about this service . . . . . . It's already been paid for and so it's free (although the poor people stuck on a hospital ward will have to pay £3.50 to listen to the whole game ).
If you're at Dewsbury, Keighely or at Odsal for the Wakefield game just drop myself, or Gill a PM and if we have a headset available/free it's yours for the game.
To everyone reading this, if you know a family member, friend, work colleague or that bloke in the pub who could take advantage of this service then please let them know because up to press three people wouldn't have renewed their season tickets for this season if this great service wasn't around.

I agree that as a patient having you're own personal tv/radio/internet arm-mounted screen is great, but what isn't is the fact that for a one week stay it's going to cost you £15 to use it and if you want to make phone calls then I would double that £15 to £30.
Hospedia's constant squeezing more money out of patients isn't good publicity for anyone going into hospital and let us all be honest in that patientline has always been too expensive, too much hassle for patients to go get cards from the vending points off the wards, which then causes no end of issues for staff in trying resolve them (such as a patient moving from ward to ward, thus menaing they lose their credit as are locked to the terminal they are first inserted into until the manager shows his face).
My experience of working in a hospital that uses this service is that a good 50% of patients (especially the elderly patients on wards 30,29,9,6 & 3) don't have any means to pay for this service and it's a very sad sight to see them sat in their chairs fed up with nothing to watch and why should anyone on this forum (lifelong Northern/Bulls supporters) who are just recovering from a operation have to pay £3.50 in order to listen to Bradford vs Wigan on a service provided by the hospitals own radio station?

| This sort of thing might be quite useful too for new fans. Those who are coming to a game and don't really know the rules too well and don't know the players. Of course they wouldn't get priority over those who are visually impaired or suchlike and need the headsets, but if there are free ones available, it might be quite a nice little thing for those new fans to help them know what's going on, and might just help encourage them to come back.
