Looking through the numerous texts on my phone about this news, I'd say it'll put a few 100 on the gate on Sunday, my dad being one who after the St Helens game this year said he wouldn't be back until McNamara had gone.

Yes I do agree it's sad in a way how he's been sacked so close to the end of his contract, but as I've said the performance against Harlequins was in my eyes and many others the worst Bradford Bulls performance since the name change in 1996.

He was like ex PM Brown clinging on to power that he had lost.

A real shame it had to happen this way, but it did have to happen. I didn't think so at the time, but with hindsight there should probably have been a parting of the ways after the England appointment.

I hope it's quickly backed up with the other requirements for all to accept that a new era has begun.

I woke up this morning and checked the T & A before I went to play badminton looking for some good news on the coaching front only to be frustrated and dissapointed again. Little did I know within an hour and half a friend of mine had posted on facey to me that Macca had been sacked, so I checked the news and she was spot on and I must say it's come as a great relief. Maybe Lee wont get us to the playoffs, but hopefully he can get us away from the turgid and half hearted RL we have played under Steves stewardship if only for 6 weeks.

Macca did not deserve to leave with an unblemished record and it's fitting that he's been sacked with 6 weeks to go, although it has come two years to late.

Steve McNamara..You are the weakest link...Goodbye.

Oddly, I feel no sense of relief or elation. Only a wierd feeling of forboding after learning that Macca's right hand man is in charge "for the rest of the season". 4 wins out of 6 and what are the odds on St Hilaire getting the gig?

To have a revolution you need to get rid of the establishment, not promote failure, as in annointing St Hilaire.

Well it should do, this weekend is now the time for all the people on here, on other message boards, down the pub, wherever, who have said they wont attend because of "Macca and his cr@p team" to bloody well get back to Odsal and support the team. Show that they support the club not just the past glory.

No excuses, the team needs our support, however limited they may be, McNamara is gone we need to move on and get behind the team. We have a winnable game this weekend, irrespective of our chances of silverware this season, just turn up to support your club and enjoy watching them trying to win a game of Rugby. You never know you might even enjoy it again!

What's the betting that reason now turns to "No, I said Macca and his team, and it's his team that's still in charge". We'll see what it changes to when they appoint the new man.

Good news, the excuses had long worn thin. Plus with the contract terminating soon the excuses for retaining were also wearing thin. It was a poisoned chalice to some extent and I do think Steve could be a good assistant coach somewhere but never seemed to have head coach mentality. Pity we're not in a position to announce the sucessor and have to go with Lee. I can't help but think St Hilaire has been coaching for the last 8 weeks anyway.

Players need to give a reaction for the next game though

You may be right, I hope not, but if you are then I guess we wont see them again until we get back to competing for finals (wheather its the same players or not).... as you know players and staff come and go, good times and bad times come and go.....but its still my team I want to support.

And ultimately for me its just about watching Bradford play rugby each week, which is all I'm after (with some entertaining rugby hopefully, preferably from our team rather than the opposition!). I find that a far more enjoyable approach than pinning every hope for every match on the long term prospects or lack of prospects for silverware. Sure have that as the overall aim, always. But I find it far more enjoyable (less depressing?) just to try and watch each match for its own sake first. And so because of that Im really looking forward to the Salford match now to see the reaction and to see us break our losing streak (hopefully

)

Not really surprised by the news and I think it's best for both parties, the results are doing nothing for Steve's reputation for England and we're not getting anything in terms of short term results. Lets hope this means we can get some quick wins and put us back on track for the season, although we have the same coaching staff and you'd presume methods.
