we need a new winger and he is a very good goal kicker which would solve two problems that we have had this season

Good as he is, I can't help but think a slow winger is the last thing we need

he finishes off well and he has quite a bit of size
other option would be michael robertson,,,,a very consistent winger and would not count on the Quota

This is all true just think (for us ) a bit of pace is more important

covell is excellent in defence though...loosing pace but a good defender...people have their own opinions about which is better
not sure when robertson comes off contract though

and he has been injury free since the 1st game in 2006 which is quite impressive and with Tony williams ,brett stewart and david williams coming back he may find it hard to get into the squad so maybe have a word

technically correct because he qualifies to play for scotland, however he would still be classed as overseas trained and as we are allowed a maximum of 5 quota/overseas players from next year onwards any overseas trained player effectively takes a quota spot.

I think I mentioned him on here last year. Even sent an email to the club. Good finisher, cracking kicker, definately an improvement on what we have.

The Star says Potter to bring Meli with him as he wants more than a 1 year deal, and we will be willing to give him a 2 year deal.

Would be an improvement on any of our wingers, certainly a better finisher.

Would people want Meli over Menzies?

On the face of it, you'd say no way. But when you think we have a lot of good backrowers and are severely lacking in wingers, it's not as clear cut as most would think.

Will Meli be on quota or - having been here a while - will he be exempt?

If it were to be a straight choice about the last quota spot, the obvious answer would be Menzies.

Menzies is more than just a good backrower though, IMO he's the best centre at the club as well.

If Meli were to take the last quota spot and deny Menzies of a place I'd hope we also had a good centre coming in to fill that gap.

BTW Meli's first season in SL was 2006 so by the end of this year he'd have been here 5 seasons in a row. Does that make him exempt?

I just assumed Meli would be exempt. If he's not, there is no way I would want him over Menzies.

Meli, Elima and Palea'aesina would be good additions to the squad.
