| To be honest I cannot see us letting Scruton go even if he wanted. We just don't have any replacements.
The fee could be used to pay creditors which could result in a 4 point decision rather than 6

You can add one other departed player to that list too.

| I can understand Sammuts frustration, Gale gets and new deal and so does Sidlow but the club won't offer him one even after Carvells wage is gone. Strange one.

| Anyone not committed to the fight needs to go.
And fight it will be all summer.
With a lot of heroic defending to reach that magic 3rd bottom or better.
Could he defend. Not on what I heard.
Gaskell it is.
Cummins has enough to deal with without dissenting upset and aggro from within.
All for one and one for all.
There is still flair.
The tackle count will be massive for survival to see another season.
And harmony.
Which is where this thread most certainly is not.
Goodbye Jam Sandwich.

| I think Cummins underrates Sammut massively. He said on SSN last week it would be Gaskell and Sammut fighting it out for SO and Gale is first choice SH. How he could even consider leaving Sammut out is beyond me. I can understand Jarrod's frustration.

Spot on! Sammut had EARNED the right to be our number one half back. How many games did he have a key role in us winning? Plenty! How many did Gale. The Hull game...
I just don't see what Gale has done to be our number 1 choice HB who we build the team around. Especially when it's resulting in possibly upsetting players who are having a bigger impact on outcome of games. Don't see why wee offered him a new contract either. What has he seriously done in the last two years? Very little.

Sammut is not a great defender. but not many games will end 0 -0.
In a season you failed to make the play offs sammut was:
- 4th highest try scorer in the whole competition
- top 10 in tackle busts in the whole competition.
- 3rd highest clean breaks in the whole competition.
- top 4 metre maker in the Bulls.
Plenty of errors and missed tackles but a hell of a lot of strike.

| Leeds away I saw flair in abundance ruined by an inability to defend and even catch the ball under pressure.
Kearney was flair.
I saw tons of scores against Bulls last year where one man was not putting the need in on our own line.
I care not.
Hes gone.
I want to see players prepared to defend and die for the uphill cause starting on sunday.
And he clearly was not up for that cause.
At least we"ve a bit more brass to put towards the RFl paying our wages at the end of the month.

| Well this is a big disappointment so close to the season. I've thought for some time FC didn't fancy Sammut as first choice stand off and unlike Carvell, I think this is FC's call. When it's come down to it, he's signed Gaskell and he's sanctioned this. Sammut looked like coming off the bench.
Firstly, backing Gale so unequivocably with precious little to support it is a massive gamble. If this goes wrong, Gale is injured and/or poor, then it's FC's neck.
Secondly, unlike plenty on here I don't believe this will define our season. What will define our season is what happens now. We have to resolve the ownership issue immediately, we have to sign players and we have to refuse to allow anyone else to leave.
He wasn't in tomorrow's squad anyway. The boys wearing the shirt need to look at their own careers and the likely destination of most of them should we be relegated. All this 'tell us the truth' stuff is childish - the fundamental damage has been done in 2011/12 and in the 50% Sky money scandal. Personally I can't see how it is this BOD's (or the previous ones) fault but that doesn't help us, the fans, who are after all, the club.
We're depressed now but hey, we're from Bradford!!! What's new? Time for everyone to get to Odsal on Sunday and get behind the lads. COYB!!

| To be honest, losing Sammut shouldn't be devastating but with our current squad you cannot deny it is a big blow. At a time when we need to add numbers to compete, we'e lost two high profile players.
As Maislebugs mentions above, if in a few weeks we see some decent replacements brought in then perhaps things won't seem so bad. My worry is our first 3 games are crucial and our squad is threadbare. The morale within the squad is unknown but at the very least they must be unsettled and a little distracted. I guess we'll soon find out tomorrow but if we don't pick up 4 points from those games with a deduction looming, the pressure will be huge.

| There is also a danger of rushing out and signing anyone available. If we can stay up we get our money back next year. This summer is when we need to sign better players on 2-3 year contracts so we don’t want to be stuck with “fillers” next year just because we signed them in a panic this year. We probably need to sign them on loan or one season contracts and then decide in the summer who to keep or replace.

| The other issue is where do we get decent players? just about everybody over here is signed and settled, unless we take fringe players on loan.
The only other option is to look at NRL fringe players, or taking a punt on a couple of south sea islanders but then there is the visa issue and getting them over and settled from the other side of the world!

| On the subject of getting new players can anyone shed light on us getting Mark Mexico ? I have read online news reports from png that date back to November saying he is a bulls player so what happened? Is he coming or not why no reports in the t&a and if it was a issue of hecouldn't come because we don't have the money promised by other owners would he really wait around just in case ??

I expect we will be hoping some players will become available once the season kicks off in the NRL, whether we can afford those level of player is anyone's guess right now. Probably look at a few more loan deals from SL clubs but we really could do with a few experienced heads in our squad as well. Filling the squad with youngsters without SL experience won't help us survive the drop.
The most experienced prop I can think of without a SL club is Keith Mason but Cas didn't seem that desperate to keep hold of him. Is his heart in it anymore?
