| Quote ="supercat"Atkins got a bad leg break and Bulls thought he wouldn't recover. Therefore Bulls let him go as spent a lot of time on sidelines. If you remember when academy games used to be on Sky he was scoring try's for fun and Wakefield coaching staff saw this and took a calculated risk on him that turned out well for Ryan long term and us for a while.'"
To be honest I don't remember him having significant long term injuries. What I do remember is him being fifth (imo) in the pecking order for a first team spot, and in all fairness he didn't get much first team opportunity, which as around fifth choice is hardly surprising. In those games he looked OK but never looked good enough to force his way into genuine reckoning for the first team nor was he particularly 'tearing it up' in the A-team. As I say, on the evidence at the time, it was the right decision for both. Good luck to him too, he's come on no ends and proved his point, well done that man.

I think thats correct, the first choice pairing at the time was Hape and Harris, Ryan was nowhere near that level (still isn't at that level IMHO, hes closer and hes very good, but I'd take Harris or Hape of the time still). He needed 1st team to develop, went, got it, and did develop -well done Ryan, I'm glad he made it. But I don't remember any bradford fans at the time thinking it was a terrible decision, 20/20 hindsight is brilliant.

| Re Matty Blythe, think the guy is a second rower but can play at centre too. Should be quite a handy player knowing our luck with injuries (unless he gets injured as well). If we sign him is that a 'proper' signing or a loan deal?
Also, fully expecting Manuokakoa to be given a new contract, thought he was our best prop last season, and we've already lost Hargreaves and Burgess.

Actually, Gaz wouldn't be a bad shout at all. He's been close to signing in the past and he's not getting on well with Tony Smith for some reason at the moment.
If you noticed, he was dropped for the GF which was strange as between him, Mozza, Hill and Wood have been awesome in driving the Wire pack forward (not quite as awesome as the awesome foursome mind )

If this comes off I think it'd be a good signing. However, think it was one touted last year which failed to happen.

Think it's been mentioned before by a wire poster. It was in context of a loan signing rather than a permanent deal.

| Mick Gledhill has retweeted a comment about barrow signing a super league player. Guessing its a bull with obvious guess being Donaldson seeing as he's from that way.

| Hopefully if it is dowes or Donaldson then they have a similiar cooling off period to that of Martin Aspinwall.

| 'Continues to put his stamp on the squad'?
Has he signed a player yet?
I thought Pryce did well and with a lack of wingers in the squad and doubts over Purtell in the right centre I don't understand this.

| squad list updated with this mornings news of Pryce Joseph Ball and that Ainsco and McAvoy are in discussions as well as those previously mentioned, source of the news about contract discussion and date added too. thats a lot more clarity in the reserves/young players, and lays the ground for some new signings and new contracts of existing players. Again both nas and Sammut are referred to as possibly going to follow suit and sign a new contract, I still don't know how that can work based on what we know about the quota.

| well im hoping we have some signings lined up for the outside backs, otherwise I do not understand the decision to let a player with a decent try scoring record, who can play in a number of positions, and whos should not command a large salary leave a thin squad.

| yes Monkey Belly, fully agree with you, where are all the rumours to add to what little we do know.
On the other hand, we have had rather a large dose of realism of late, which has undoubtedly stunted the quantity and quality of rumours...Scott Murrell full stop. I am discounting Matty Blythe as a rumour until those that mention his name say why they mention it, as a want or as a rumour. But plenty of good wants on the preview squad list OP

| My first thought on the Pryce news was 'why?'. Why offload a proven SL player from a paper thin squad? Even Joseph would add another body to the squad which is not exactly packed with prop forwards
But on reflection I think we have to trust FC and the new regime. I'm pleased that Cummins isn't just 'making do' with Pryce and Joseph just because 'they are there'. He obviously doesn't rate them, so he's moving them out. Good for him! He's putting his mark on the squad, and I'm prepared to believe that he knows what he is doing and has definite targets in mind or negotiations for those positions.
Basically, lets give the guy a chance

| To me, it's just a sign that Francis Cummins isn't willing to take on board slackers and people that need to be carried.
