Right, here’s your next Challenge, and it involves those beautiful and intelligent creatures, Greyhounds.

Now, you can spend as much or as little time picking your selections as you like, from just writing down the numbers that first come into your head and leaving it at that, right down to going online and spending all week studying the form and cards.

Here’s what you have to do. You pick the greyhounds that you want to come First and Second in the first 10 races at each of the three chosen meetings; on Wednesday, Friday and finally Saturday. First race is usually 7.30 but please, don’t leave it till the last minute, to avoid disqualification.

All you have to do, for each race, is put the number of the dog you want to win, in the “First” column, and the number of the one you think will come second, in the “Second” column. That’s it.

Only 6-runner races count. So, obviously, Don’t put any number bigger than 6. And don’t put the same number twice in any one race, as your dog cannot come both first AND second so if you do, you are just wasting one pick.

Points will be scored as follows:
If any of your selections comes first or second, it scores 5 points.
Plus, if your “First” prediction is correct, you get another 10 points
Plus, if you guess them both, in the right order, you get another 20 points
Or if you guess both dogs, but the wrong order, then you get another 10 points

Right. It is time to use my tried and tested system for dog racing. A £1 reverse forecast on traps 2 and 6 for every race. This has, in all the years I have used it, never produced a profit. Here goes

I usually go for a 6-1 or 4-2 RF

That would be because you chose to rest on your laurels after the first round, and left it to the others, taking the risk that they would not garner more points than you, but they did, toiling manfully at their stations, while you caroused the nights away, living high on the hog, and derelicting your duties. I demand an inquiry. I won the first round. Was in the top ten on the leaderboard in the second round and entered a haiku in the poetry section. The only one to enter a recognised form of poetry. Surely bonus points for getting the key words into 19 syllables? Even if it was 3.

I can't believe Shania would have ignored an entry, so presume she must have missed it. But I am not the judge. However, I shall ask.

After my stunning poetry entry I have been resting. To decide who goes I am holding my own mini-competition. bob & Eddie have until 1700 today to explain how the hell Paul Deacon ever got a gig without using the words kick (or kicker) & organiser (or organises/organising etc). I will choose the winner, open criticism of every aspect of Deacon's game & character will be viewed as a positive. Otherwise I will kick out Eddie for being Scottish, possibly having ginger hair & pipping me in the fantasy league.
