That's rubbish IMO players may trot this line out but ultimately they are driven by who pays the most £££££ nothing else.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The money will be likely the deciding factor but I wouldn't dismiss the chance of winning trophies as a factor in a player signing.

I think your missing out on the value of employing people while they still know everything. People who can instantly tell when a young player is 'poop' or 'pants' or should be "got rid of" is someone every club would pay a fortune to employ.

think thats more a case of picking out players that fans are likely to get excited about. Dont think lynch falls into that category really.

Burgess is probably our most valuable asset now. He's been the bright spot for me this season and is one of the few players we have who's exciting to watch.

Daft as that clearly is (from an overall POV), I'm certain you're right. You only have to listen to the cheers when he appears on the field. The fact that he is very young and has had such an effect bodes well for the future and excites us all.

Let's hope the club make efforts during the winter to bump his salary and keep him here for a few more years, maybe they already have. One thing which would seriously dent plans would be if he were to go.

Said for a while most positive thing club could do would be to get Tom tied down to a long deal. But I cant see it happening. Think he'll see out his current deal then join his brothers down under. Think the lure of the lifestyle will prove too much and dont think it will really matter how much money we throw at him.

Well we should offer him a new deal now whilst establishing himself as a 1st choice player is very much a possibility in the next season instead of waiting till 3 months to the end of the season and his deal is about to run out. Maybe we should have done this when he decided to stay and not go to Aussie to reward his loyalty.

Well anything's possible I guess, but it was his decision to stay here and try and breakthrough in the UK without all the distractions of having his brothers around. He is his own man here, not just one of "the bothers" so maybe, and hopefully, he still feels the same way.

Re Lynch, yes maybe you do Mike. I am going on the comments I have read on the various forums on here and TotalRL, as well as what people tell me to my face. In particular, the generality of comments across the forums when people read that Lynch seemed to be available. Most comment on the Hull forum was pretty positive towards him, and I have read numerous comments elsewhere that he would get into any team in SL. Same on the "Andy Lynch" thread on TotalRL. I have read little that commented he was "average" or anything similar. That tends to support what people tell me to my face too. For example, the various Leeds fans I know have consistently said that the only Bulls player they would entertain is Lynch (although they are tending to add Tom in now). If I had nothing better to do, or was one of those obsessives who seem to be wired up a bit wrong, I could post link after link. But I'm not about to waste time on trying to convince those whose views will never change. As I said earlier, put a poll up on the VT asking people whether Lynch would get in their team, so we can see which view commands the majority?

I ain't derailing it though. It just seems to be the case that people are often asked for evidence in order to back up their points. (Adey is quite vociferous in this field it must be said.) Just merely asking him to back up where he gets the point from so that it can be taken seriously rather than a random opinion dressed up as fact.

FWIW my view on Lynch is thus. He is an average SL prop who is nothing special. He maybe looks good in our side because, on the whole, we are useless. That said, I would rather he stayed than went but I would not shed any tears should he decide to move on.

In fact, six years ago (when he should have been in his prime) he was considered by the then coaching team to be surplus to requirements in our playoff run. Doubtful then he would make much impact should we make the business end of season 2012 at the age of 33-ish.
