Dear Red, Ambers and Blacks Sirs and Gares Wo-man,
Good day and compliments. This email will definitely come to you as a huge surprise, but I implore you to take the time to go through it carefully as the decision you make will go off a long way to determine the future and continued existence of the entire members of the Bradfords Bull.
Please allow me to introduce myself. You know me as tigerstot, however my real name is Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Abacha, the wife of the late head of state and commander in chief of the armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria who died on the 8th of June 1998.
My ordeal started immediately after my husband's death on the morning of 8th June 1998, and the subsequent take over of government by the last administration. The present democratic government is determined to portray all the good work of my late husband in a bad light and have gone as far as confiscating all my late husband's assets, properties, freezing our accounts both within and outside Nigeria. As I am writing this letter to you, my son Mohammed Abacha is undergoing questioning with the government. All these measures taken by past/present government is just to gain international recognition.
I and the entire members of my family have been held incommunicado since the death of my husband, hence I seek your indulgence to assist us in securing these funds. We are not allowed to see or discuss with anybody. Few occasions I have tired traveling abroad through alternative means all failed.
It is in view of this I have mandated DR WIGANS BULLS, who has been assisting the family to run around on so many issues to act on behalf of the family concerning the substance of this letter. He has the full power of attorney to execute this transaction with you.
My late husband had/has Eighty Million USD ($80,000,000.00) specially preserved and well packed in trunk boxes of which only my husband and I knew about. It is packed in such a way to forestall just anybody having access to it. It is this sum that I seek your assistance to get out of Nigeria as soon as possible before the present civilian government finds out about it and confiscate it just like they have done to all our assets with the porpoise of investing in Bradfords Bull.
I implore you to please give consideration to my predicament and help a widow in need. Please note that this transaction is 100% safe and we hope THAT THE FUNDS CAN ARRIVE YOUR ACCOUNT in latest ten (10) banking days from the date of reciept of the following information by TEL/FAX: 234-1-7747907: A SUITABLE NAME AND BANK ACCOUNT INTO WHICH THE FUNDS CAN BE PAID. PLEASE ENDEAVOUR TO RESPOND BY TELEPHONE OR FAX.
May Allah show you mercy as you do so?
Your faithfully,
Dr (Mrs.) Mariam Abacha (M.O.N)'"
Hey, this works. Or at least it did for Murray on Flight of the Conchords!

| I've found it really interesting to see that there are quite a few people willing to contribute cash who don't generally comment on the forums.
Has anyone decided on a timeline for offers to contribute? I think that there's likely to be a few more but can't imagine there'll be too many more.
My only concern is that if we leave it too long we might end up losing momentum and a few contributions. Granted it won't be a big amount - circa £20, but I'd imagine we'll not get every penny promised.

Since 42 is the answer to the ultimate question, then I guess that must be the ultimate question? Very appropriate!

You can get an idea from [url=http://www.squadbuilder.co.uk/default.aspWireland[/url. Although what is being proposed on here is not a squadbuilder, supporters' trust or ISA, just a relatively straightforward (in comparison) player sponsorship. You can see some appetite though from one or two people for something beyond that.
Are you up for a share in the sponsorship? You'd not be punishing yourself too much, given that the per head contribution is looking more modest with every new pledge.

There's an awful lot of passion for this club out there beyond the couple of dozen people who dominate most threads on here. This forum is of interest to me personally as a source of gossip about the club and a (very broad and yet limited) pulse of the nation style take on how supporters are feeling, but for the most part I don't feel the need to contribute to the arguments.
Absolutely loving the threads here on positive action though....

Seriously though, it is good to see the latent level of support and good will for the club to improve, even at such a low ebb. We all have issues with what been going on and thoughts on where we're going but seeing so many people wanting to do something positive no matter how small a gesture it is the grand scheme of things, is refreshing after this season.

| OK, a little more to report:
Reply from the club:
[iDear Mark
Thank you for your enquiry regarding our Player Sponsorship. I have listed below details of the package. At the moment I am in the process of contacting existing player sponsors to request their renewals for next year as we always aim to give them first choice.
-Company details / logo included in the Gameday Magazine alongside your chosen sponsored player
-Website acknowledgment on the Bradford Bulls Squad page with click through link to your companies website
-Announcement when your sponsored player scores any points
-Player used for one appearance / promotion (Subject to availability of player, along with at least one months notice)
-Pre-season evening to meet your player and present with his 2010 playing shirt (DTBC). Strictly limited to two tickets, additional tickets can be purchased when further details of the shirt presentation evening are announced
-1 x Seasonal Corporate Car Park Pass
At the moment I don’t have a full list of available players until I know who is renewing or not as the case maybe.
Meantime, if you have any queries regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact me further.
I will keep your contact details on file and will contact you as soon as I know what availability we have.[/i
Now, as discussed the benefit package doesn't really work for us, so I asked about a game in hospitality for a game.
The reply:
[iWe could cater for 45 Mark, but you would be spread around 5 tables. Depending on which game you are thinking of (not Leeds) we could maybe use the middle section of our All Bar 9 area, obviously I don’t know if you know the layout of the Coral Stand but this is on the ground floor. There isn’t a bar in there as such, but we would make sure you can buy drinks from one of the other bars. We do also have the Murrayfield and Millennium Suites available (upstairs) but there’s only 33 seats actually outside the suite.
It’s not an unusual situation as such, you’d be surprised how many questions/requests we get asked throughout a season. But, as always we do aim to fulfill guests requirements as best as we possibly can.
Have a think about the above options and once I can confirm what players we have available I can work our a package that we can work together on.
Hope that’s okay.[/i
Thoughts...?

Sounds hopeful really. I think what is a good idea is, if we do go ahead with it, in the program, we can advertise RAB and get a few more people on here, and also on the Bulls website.
If we were to do that at a particular game, we'd have to make sure everyone was available. Maybe one where its not likely to be as busy? Celtic, Quins or Catalans ?

| 33 is plenty, in the nature of things there's no chance at all of everyone actually turning up. Also I'd much prefer standing with a bar than sitting without a bar.

I will happily supply his bus fare home.
However, joking aside - what an excellent idea to sponsor a player - I would be happy to join in.
