Rohan Smith with be an immense coup. He's got bags of potential, has lots of experience with some decent sides and has a lot of admirers down in the NRL.

I always thought that the job could be a poisoned chalice which could put certain candidates off. If we were to get Cartwright or Smith then I think I would be more optimistic than I would be with a Naylor or Morrison appointment.

As for Ferres, I've heard a few things about why Jimmy left and tbh whilst I think its time to move on, it does appear his meddling has done us a favour in the fact that jimmy has eventually moved on.

If it is Smith it "could" give us all a massive lift like we got when his dad and Matty came over. I wonder who his assistant would be. I find myself thinking it would have been good to have kept Diskin as his assistant as I am not sure about Chev at the moment.

Fingers crossed we get the right man as Green and the club may not get another chance if this goes wrong.

Rohan Smith would be a good choice. Especially for bringing through our 16s and 19s.

First thing I thought when I saw Adamson's CV was he looks like a good assistant. Doubt we could afford him as well as Smith though. Suspect we'll carry on with Diskin and Walker as assistants until end of season. effectively a trial period for Walker to impress incoming coach as i think walkers on a yr by yr contract.

I'm hoping Matty Elliott and Brian Noble have sons who could take that job on.

I'm pleased it's Smith - I'll be happy if he's selected his own assistant, whomever that may be.

He is highly rated in the NRL and comments like Moley's seem to be the norm. This is the NRL we're talking about too. Standard of training is a different world to Super League.

Well a new coach is a chance for the club to show a statement of intent. If they go for a top draw name or a name with grand association to the club's history then it can reinvigorate the fanbase.

However, on the flip side if they go for a cheaper, unproven coach it does seem that they're waving the white flag as far as promotion is concerned

I think the supposed candidate is a bit of both.

It certainly looks like RedBull will have a RedNeck and a RedFace after being certain it was Elliott.
