Quote ="mystic eddie"That is enough FA. Comments like that are well out of order given the fact that there is no truth in it whatsoever.

Oh do us all a favour, will you? Firstly, you (presumably?) know and understand that I don't say you are a wife-beater, but was simply making a satirical point taking advantage of your gaffe admitting that you are a wife-beater, if only in a small way. So what do you find out of order?
[uYou [/usaid (and I quote):-
Quote ="mystic eddie"[size=150Thankfully however, I have no record of assault against my wife on my record to speak of[/size. '"
In your case, it's necessary to spell things out, because you either don't understand, or feign not to. But anyone with a passable knowledge of English useage understands your phrase to mean you DO have such a record, just one that you consider trivial.
You can ask anyone, that is what you said, and that is what it means. But, as I say, it always seems to need spelling out to you, so here's the online Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary definition:

very little of something
"Did you get much rain while you were in Singapore?" "None to speak of."

Meaning, YES, there was some rain, but hardly any so not worth mentioning.
So, you are claiming to take great offence when in fact I was just taking the mick from your unintentional and amusing admission. I can't quite work out whether you really didn't get it, or whether you're just trying to make trouble.
Most people, when their gaffe was pointed out to them, would blush, say "Doh!" and grin ruefully. You run straight for the high horse, and compound
your mistake. Grow up, man!
