In your case, it's necessary to spell things out, because you either don't understand, or feign not to. But anyone with a passable knowledge of English useage understands your phrase to mean you DO have such a record, just one that you consider trivial.
You can ask anyone, that is what you said, and that is what it means. But, as I say, it always seems to need spelling out to you, so here's the online Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary definition:
