| Quote ="mat"need to know more details but a couple of things spring to mind.
1. If we move to VP then we have to pay part of odsal settlement back to council (1.9mil I think), unless council waive it which could explain some comments from councillor Ward over last few weeks.
2. What level would season tickets be set at? VP is all seater so all fans that currently get ground admission are effectively going to be forced to upgrade to seated prices and I suspect eveon those will be higher than the pre-pledge family stand prices at odsal. So would expect a big dropoff in seaon ticket sales, probably down to 3kish level.
3. How would Rugby side be funded? Given one star signing for city would fund entire SL salary cap for a year, could see a potential conflict of interest issue.
on positive side playing at VP would remove ongoing problem of upgrading odsal and tick all stadium checkboxes. Assuming we stay in SL this license period would probably be guaranteed a license for 2014-2016 period too.'"
1) I think you are right the council will "waive" their right to future money they wouldn't get anyway if the club folds
2) ST prices were going to have to go up sharply whatever happened, even if we had avoided admin
3) Another way of looking at it would be to say - to fund a successful football team you need tens of millions - whereas a SL club can buy success for millions. its a way of them spreading the risk.
And as you say moving to VP answers the problems and costs relating to the state of Odsal

| Quote ="mat"just did some back of envelop calculations. Assuming rugby ticket price is set same as citys (£20) and season tickets are discounted at same rate for rugby as football (65%) and take into account different number of games (13v23) then we'd probably be looking at £170 ish which is pretty much what I suspect we'd have been going upto for ground admission at odsal next year. Lot of assumptions in there I know but a bit more encouraging than £260 figure thats been floating around on social media sites.'"
My money would be on the £260.
Too littlke detail to comment more objectively about this latest development. I fear it will pan out as I speculated a while back; I HOPE it pans out rather differently. There is always hope.

Tbh If they do that then they can forget anyone who currently pays ground admission prices getting a season ticket. Would expect season ticket numbers to drop to around 1k at that price. No benefit to getting a season ticket as its no cheaper than paying on the gate.

A move from Odsal would seem to be inevitable for a viable business. Although not at all my wish, I would not have an issue with moving to VP if it saved the club and in SL. I fear the club could die a slow death at VP, unless new support is attracted, but that would be one for the future.
What I WOULD have a big problem with would be if anyone who had previously been a major shareholder/director of the club, or any of their cronies, was involved. Or is planned to be involved once the dust settles.

Where did I suggest I had a problem with BCFC fans if they went apoplectic over any move?
In their situation I would feel the same.
Although one day you may have to let the past go. Same as it seems Bulls fans will have to.

Apperley Bridge.
We've just spent thousands on the Training facility so I can't see that happening.

Likewise. From memory we spent 250kish setting tong up a couple of years ago. Assuming rents arent massive then it may make sense to keep both training facilities going anyway as both football and rugby teams will need to train at same times. Not like stadium where home games are alternate weeks.

Why would anyone pay £260 for a season ticket when its £20 on the gate?. You only need to miss one match and your out of pocket. Effectively everyone would become walk up supporters at that price and crowds would go back to being dependent on how teams going on pitch.

Bulls need Tong to be able to attract the youngsters - needs the location, superbly p[laced for the big RL hinterland.. Apperley Bridge does not work, because it is too far for younsgters - and the taxi-ing parents - to travel given its usually evenings.

Odsal doesn't meet football league criteria so City moving there can't happen. Keeping two grounds doesn't make sense so VP it will be.
There has to be another money man funding this in the background. City have had as many financial problems over the last few years as the Bulls! Can't see them having the money available to fund it themselves or risking their future by borrowing it. Theres plenty more info to come out in this one.

| Well, I'd like to say I'm surprised by this development....but I don't think anything in this saga could surprise me now.
I'll wait until there is more detail before I think about VP or Odsal or what it all means, no-ones said it means VP, but its the obvious meduim term solution, and an option I would wlecome if the alternative was oblivion or championship 1 rl at Horsfall.
I'm just grateful to Bradford City for getting involved if they think they can help save my club.

| I suspect that the fans who live nearer to VP than Odsal would be OK with a move. I know a few Bulls fans who are opposed to a move, but then they live within walking distance of Odsal.
I've been going to Odsal for over 40 years and have a lot of fond memories invested in the place, but surely playing anywhere is better than playing nowhere.

I think things have taken a turn for the better at Filtronic in recent times so the Rhodeses might have a bit of cash to play with again, especially if there is a plan to get a return on the investment a year or so down the line.....
