Solid performance from Briggs today. It's good to see him working well with Jeffries and creating some space on the flanks. Well deserved MOM award for BJ.

BJ has definately changed things. I put my hands up and say that I was very unhappy resigning him, but he has had a positive impact. Him and Briggs seem to be developing a good relationship. I hope to see them given a chance to grow in those positions.

You can see Briggs gaining in confidence with each game and Jeffries has taken pressure off him. He did well today. If he can put a bit more size on in the next off season and stiffen up his defence and his ability to break a tackle he'll go very well as he's got good footwork and a decent rugby brain. You can definitely see a difference when the pack is on song. We have really missed Langley and Elima in the backrow and having some props that can make an impact really gave him some space today.

How bad was Elima's injury towards the end? Didn't sound too clever on the radio.

It didn't look good at first but he got up and seemed to recover by the end so perhaps just a bad knock on the head.

Elima was backing up the break and was taken out in back play. Hopefully the match commissioner will have a look at that.

That's exactly right. You can't quibble too much about the halves if the forwards aren't doing the business, particularly when they are new to the club and still trying to fit in, especially so when coming from a lower division. Obviously, it also means we maybe have to reappraise our thoughts on Marc Herbert too who has suffered most of the same problems. Hopefully we are in for some interesting times (of the good sort).

If he does Potter wants a slap - Briggs hasnt done anything wrong to warrant being dropped, but in saying that he may want to see want Herbert can now do behind a pack that is actually working and moving forward !!!

i know thats what i think too , there is no getting away from the fact that briggs defence is garbage but i personally think that the more times halfs play together the better the partnership will be, herbert has had aload of opportunities this year and not really taken them.... i hope it isnt the case but potters selections have been pretty odd this year i think... the sykes at wing been one of them, which resulted in sykes flying inside allowing three trys !!! we will have to wait and see!

seriously now folks: surely he will want to see Herbert play behind a good pack, as it could give him two options, Herbert as a short passing option that would suit Royston - or Kearney when hes back - timing runs into the line, and Briggs as a kicking option which would suit the wings whether Ah Van or Ainscough or Raynor and the forwards for some nice easy yardage, then he plays whichever according to opposition, weather, our injuries, etc etc etc.

some odd decisions have been necessary, but I have to agree about Sykes on the wing, but difficult to say what was planned before whatever happened to Platt as he was in the 19

there wasnt anything up with platt , he just wasnt selected which is what makes the salford game all the more weird as we had a perfectly fit centre in platt and then he selected ah van in the centre and sykes on the wing..... i thinkplatts been doing well personally i dont know why he wasnt selected??

I dont want to see Herbert play behind any pack. The bottom line he is a poor player. Look how much better we look with Briggs and Jeffries calling the shots.

... but they had Ollie and Jamie back in the pack and the difference was visible. When did Herbert last have a dominant pack and an actual stand off let alone an in form one partnered with him for more than one game? In those circumstances a lot of players would struggle. Its interesting to see if Halley keeps going at stand off, as that would mean four options in the half backs, which we need.

Just cannot understand why Platt would be named in the 19 then dropped. so Superbulls could still be right about Briggs when the team is announced if Platt is anything to go by.

Platty wasnt well the weekend of the game and had a bug apparently and was a bit under the weather, hence why he wasnt selected in the 17

thanks squirty Pulsatron, that figures re Plattypuss and the re-arrangements. really messed up my team predictions, but good to have him back because we need to reduce that points deficit by giving Quins a thrashing as well as the two points.
