| Quote DILLIGAF="DILLIGAF"He may not be, but the very fact that we already have a fullback who's performing very well means we don't need to strengthen that area nearly as much as others. What's the point in signing players for positions we already have good players in, when we have other very very weak areas of the team?
If it's the wing that's weak, instead of signing a fullback and moving the fullback to the wing, why not just sign a winger?'"
they may also be trying to sign a winger. There may be no wingers of sufficient quality available to sign; it may be that signing a FB and moving Halley to the wing may be the best way of improving the backline by the players who are currently on the market. If noone was signed because there were no wingers available, that wanted to come, and for the right amount of money i dont think people would be very happy, so it may be that signing a very good FB and moving halley to the wing may be the best option.
I can see what you're saying but i personally feel that Kearney is a better FB than Halley and if by signing him is the best way we can currently improve our backline then so be it.

I do see the point and I appreciate there may be no wingers of sufficient quality available, and probably signing a fullback and moving Halley to the wing is a better option than just not signing anyone. However with Halley in such good form, I'm just not sure it sends out the right message to the players that no matter how well you play, you still might end up getting replaced and shifted somewhere else. It's the same wrong message that comes from continually picking players quite clearly out of form or not good enough.
Difficult one really, but I suppose replacing Sheriffe would be a good thing no matter which way you look at it.

| yes i agree, and you can easily see both sides of the arguement, but I think Kearney is a good player and would love to see him at the bulls as he would make us a better team.
We need some massive improvements to our backline and as long as they come I will be happy enough.

Uate. I really would love to see him sign for the Bulls, but apart from a mention from Semi that he was looking to come to England, there's been no links as far as I've seen.

Uate has recently signed a 4 year contract extension with the knights, so there is no chance of us signing him, would have been nice though.

He is under contract until 2010 so no go on him either unless they are allowing him to be released, but if we are signing kearney and millard then we dont have any more quota spots do we?

Kearney's signing to me signals that he is the halfback replacement.

I haven't seen him play, but from what I've read on tinternet he's a better FB than HB. I agree with Bullseye, I hope we're still to sign a HB

This comment by one was interesting generally:

Add in Kearney and thats four Aussies we are supposed to have signed, of which two are confirmed. Do we/would we have enough quota spots?? (Not time to check right now). Six, innit? If so, that would mean Tad going?

If all are confirmed, it does indeed mean we have filled our quota & non-fed spots (hence no antipodean number 7, impact prop, or any type of exchange player to come in for Burgess).
However, I believe that we could still re-sign Semi as, due to the tortured logic of the quota, he would then be considered as federation-trained!

Under the exemptions? I'd wondered that too.
If all those four end up happening, at least no-one could call us the Kiwi Bulls any more. Ozzibulls maybe...

Maybe that explains the comments attributed in the Oz media to Hood - that he'd be prepared to talk if enough dosh was on the table, but no mention by him of player exchange - which looks increasingly like Caisley kite-flying?
