TBH if you go back and read the quote again he says he new nothing about Newton going to Wakefield not that he was going at all.

I'd be amazed if we signed a current origin or test player, it's simply not our style, then again not many come over here in their prime to anyone. If it's a test level player then we'd be more likely to get a kiwi.

Incidentally once Solomona goes it'll be the first time we've not had a Kiwi in the team since 1986 IIRC.

Now Netherton could be the replacement for Newton, unless Wakey have anyone to offload. Then again Rinaldi fits the bill. He's an average sort of player who's not interested any of the top teams. Sounds perfect

That would further compound the misery if Burgess was to leave in 2010 aswell.

I actually don't think he's the player we need. Roby is better coming off the bench as an impact player. We need the sort of hooker that can start the game and organise the team. Diskin or Randall would be a much better option than Roby for us, and that's not to say that I rate Diskin and Randall higher, just that he would be a better fit for what we need.

To replace Newton we need an experienced player with a good rugby brain. Somebody mentioned Lestrange from Manly. Wouldn't be too disappointed with that, but I can't help thinking we'll have Rinaldi/Godwin for next season until someone better gets available.

Chad Randall is one of the best and smartest hookers in the league IMO. Shame we won't get him.

Hope we sign Craig Wing but doubt we will. My choice of Hookers would be...

1. Chad Randall - Quins
2. Matt Diskin - Leeds
3. Scott Moore - Saints

Agree with that. If Wing signs for us I will eat 2 hats and a shoe. My shopping list would have to be a Hooker (I agree with what you have said) a Halfback and a centre. Then Sykes can cover for injury etc.

Is T.J. Hooker available? He has a proven track record of winning every week.

can't say i'm too disapointed were letting newton go as a further 2 year deal would have been too much of a risk imo. We really need to bring in some quality to replace him though. As dilligaf's said only real prospects in SL would be randall and diskin, beyond that we'd need to look overseas ( hopinh andy ellis rumour last week was just that - a rumour).
It would settle a lot of rumours if club would make a statement re burgess imo.

If the club classed re-signing Sykes as bad news they wouldn't have signed him.

Would prefer to see Randall and Hopkirk. Then we could ghost through the defence.

think sykes re-signing as first choice would be classed by most fans as bad news. on the other hand if we've resigned him as a utility back and we announce a then it puts it in a very different light.

Deacon and Godwin to Harlequins... Randall to link up with his best buddy Beaver Menzies. We re-sign Rinaldi as back up to cover Hooker and Scrum half. BJ to 7 and new stand off signed in the shape of Wing.
