Cant blame him for that shambles tonight but i agree he should be dropped, its all well and good big hitting a player if you make the tackle but when you dont and they score from it you look a fool.

Yes Sykes was bad and Briggs but donno was awful what an error/ penalty machine. Royston isn't injured either. Heaven knows hOw we will go on against Leeds. Thought burgess was too slow today, looked very large and lethargic, time for crossely to have a go?

Briggs was poor but i think he needs a chance hes been out injured hes only young and this is his first season in the super league i think he will improve and come good.

Are we not going down the line of singling out players for poor team performances again? Think the '09 season (Platt) and last year (Worrincy). Actual case was surely the vast majority of players were to blame for both bad seasons? Sykes has taken the mantle for this year but the fact remains there is a considerable amount not playing well enough right now.

Tonight was horrendous. Let's just hope we can improve. Slagging off individuals isn't going to help anything.

No idea how we're going to regroup for Thursday, but that gives me a weird sense of hope. I couldn't put a case forward for a Bradford win in the Good Friday '09 fixture either.

No one player deserves their own thread tonight - all of them should be extremely disappointed and ashamed at what they served up.

Credit to Salford though - they found a weakness down that side and were ruthless. It wasn't only Sykes who was left wanting in defence though.

Herbert did nothing, all that pressure on Salfords line early on, near 80% completion rate in the first half and still couldnt come up with anything. He's utter gash.

TBH Edward, I think Briggs will come good, on the other hand though, Herbert is poor.

Briggs has a terrible kicking game, a woeful passing game and little or no vision.

too early to slate Herbert or briggs ... think Herbert will be better at 13 with his size .. and could offer an alternative

Sykes is an experienced super league player who basically cant be d! If you look at him he seems totally out of the team .. lets face facts .. Salford went down his side of purpose .. they did the research and found our weakest weak point! it was no fluke!

Re the half backs offering nothing .. they can only provide if we go forward we spent 60 mins on the back foot last night!

Maybe Sykes felt he needed to come inside more to cover the inept tackling in the middle, you singled out the tackle on Holdsworth, he tried a block tackle on a player going full pelt, who's quite a bit bigger than Sykes, right decision, poor attempt!

They where all crap, they all deserve singling out, including Herbert, Leeds Thursday, doesn't look good, too many players not that interested about playing for us, maybe thinking where a crappy little backwater club going nowhere, hopefully the near-and 20'000 what will be turning up will shock them into realizing they are not playing for a crappy little back water club and we deserve a damn site more than what were getting!

Sykes was no worse than any over player. Having one scapegoat is unfair and the defensive problems was the fault of a collective group of players defending poorly not just one man. We have a team of average players that cant meet supporters expectations and whilst we continue to recruit this calibre of player the results will simply remain the same.
The fantastic pledge scheme is frankly wasted on this group of players. Lose supporters again and i think it could take some doing getting them back again !

To be fair to Sykes, was he out of position because the rest of the defence wasn't sliding across quick enough? It's a team game and I think it's harsh to blame one player for the every try down his flank! Don't think he's having a good season though and he strikes me as being a bit of an outsider, with regards to the team, for some reason this season. He doesn't look a happy puppy.

I think we played terrible today and that was across the park, not just one player. It's harsh to judge Briggs' ability on the few games he's played! For God's sake give hime the chance to get some games under his belt! By all account he was good at Feath last year but it'll take time to get up to speed in SL and he hasn't had the best of starts. Same with Herbert, he's come from Aus to play in a new competition and he's spent half the games at the start of the season injured!
