Partially inspired by a thread on TotalRL - who are the best Bradford-born players to play for Bradford?

Top of my head, it's Keith Mumby, followed by Leon. What other notables are there?

Much as I regard Keith as my all time hero, I have to point out that I believe he was born in Durham, albeit that the family was an established Bradford family, and he was brought up in Bradford. I don't have a definitive source for this, but have seen it metioned in a couple of places, and I believe that he did once play for an "Other Nationalities" team that briefly appeared alongside Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria in the County Championship.

This is a topic I have thought about a few times before, especially given that we have a relatively high number of Bradfordians in the team at the moment (Kopczak, Halley, Sheriffe, Whitehead, Reardon). Even in earlier, less geographically-mobile times, I can think of few true Bradfordians to play for the club, though many Kiwis and Welsh. Even the iconically named B.Radford was, I believe, Welsh. Brian Noble is a good call, though.

As for Bradfordians who played elsewhere, how about Graeme Hallas?

You could include Richard Moore if we're talking about the Bradford Met area. I know keighley folk aren't bothered by being lumped in with Bradford

Thought the Westwood thing had been done before and that the conclusion was that he was born elsewhere, but brought up in Bradford from an early age.

If we're talking Bradford Met, then we could also chuck in Chris Feather, Peter Roe & Dean Raistrick and - for Bradfordians playing for other clubs - Simon Haughton.

Don't know where he was born, but we got him from Leeds Academy.

Jack Kitching was born in Bradford, first represented Yorkshire at RU with Bradford RU before seeing the light. Toured on the famous Indomitable tour of '46 and was involved in the notorious biting incident in the first test. Played in Northern's three Challenge \cup finals, a very strong running centrewho was quality, how we could do with him now.

I was thinking about the team of my Dad's era. I had ruled out: Davies, Whitcombe, Foster, Edwards & Radford (Welsh); Philips, MacLean, Hawes & Seddon (Kiwis); the Wards (Shaw Cross); Traill (Cumbria); Batten (Hunslet?); Carmichael (Hull?); and Winnard (St. Helens). It didn't leave many to consider, so I'm glad to hear that Kitching actually was Bradfordian.
