supports, but the new owners have made
the decison not to keep me on board for 2017.
I had to call the club myself to find out the
news.

The way the players,staff and fans
have been treated throughout this whole
situation is absolutely appalling and I'm so
proud how you all have conducted
yourselves.

A big Thank You to Rohan for the
opportunity to be a part of this great club,
I had an awesome 6 months here.

Good luck to all the boys for the season
and with your futures.

Dane Chisholm - 19/01/2017

Not that surprising but still disappointing.
Chisholm won't come cheap, and after years of being told to cut our cloth accordingly, it sounds like these guys might actually be doing it.

Well that certainly scream statement of intent! Hopefully we sign Keyes up on a long term deal.

Shocking that he was the one phoning the club not the other way around

Not only what they are doing, its the manner these guys are conducting themselves.

Not too surprising really. Not that he would have got here in time but if we're playing on Sunday tomorrow's announcement needs to be a rather large one.

dissapointing but not a massive surprise TBH. Chisholm and Moss were very much Smiths players. After hanging about all way through admin process, when Moss went within 24hrs of new owners taking over, It looked like a big indicator that smith wasnt going to be retained and chisholm would follow him out of the door.

Communication from new owners is very poor so far, but at moment I'm giving them benefit of doubt as they must be overwhelmed tring to sort a lot of things out in short order.

Looks like Leon and A N Other at halfback then. Wonder what Keyes status is? It’d be great if we could keep him but I can see Thomas playing halfback – if we keep him

I would say a new coach bringing a few players straight in.

They must have a plan or Leon wouldn't have signed upto it he isn't stupid.

With regards to the hysteria on Facebook banter like the world has just ended, Rohan again a nice guy failed to get us top 4 last year, the players last year also failed to do this, the management team failed to keep the club afloat.

To replace all these things in one foul swoop can only be seen as a positive.

Remember the clear out of 95, when Fox and co were shown the door I was gutted, again I could be massively wrong but we cant be any worse that we have been for two years.

Admirable.

Way I see it - the RFL are a bunch of ignorant amateurs with their own private agenda, and like the European Commission, cannot be ousted.

They do not communicate and conduct themselves in a very poor and unprofessional manner.

This process has been about installing owners who replicate themselves - granted - the opportunity presented to them is courtesy of Green.

But its been grabbed with both hands and we now have owners who conduct themselves as per the RFL model.

I suppose the new owners feel that they don't have the obligation to let players who are no longer on the books so to speak anything, with Dane in Oz a bit more out of sight out of mind, but still it should have been common courtesy to let him know!
But they obviously want to play hard @ rse and make Gary Hetherington look positively philanthropic! That's fine with Players and Staff but I wouldn't try that with long suffering Fans!

Well it's disappointing but it's difficult to comment without seeing the full picture. Do we have players already in mind or are they simply cutting loose a lot of the high earning players? This season is looking longer by the minute, let's hope we have some good news to soften the blow tomorrow.

Agree with the first part, we currently have one player signed and are supposed to have a game on Sunday. Unless we get others who are in the UK signed in short order Leon will be very busy against Hudders.

Did Lowe not say yesterday they would be sorting playing contracts in the next 48 hrs? has that 48 hours passed no?
As $hitty as it sounds there may have been a phone call today?

All we can do is sit tight and wait and see how it unfolds. It’s a crap state of affairs but I’ve reconciled myself to it. Next season will be a struggle at best and a disaster on the field at worst. However, even with these two running the club with their questionable history in business I don’t think the RFL will allow this to fail. If they’re in it for a windfall from a possible sale of the ground then they’re going to do all they can not to let the club go to the wall again.

I think we’ll be on “life support” for a while – what that actually looks like we shall see, it might not be as bad as it could be. I expect it might be at least partly a part time immediate future. I can live with that if there’s a plan to move forward. I’d like to see that plan at some stage soon. In the meantime I’ll be keeping an open-ish mind and getting a premier sports subscription for the NRL.

its a shame we're not keeping Dane as he is a very good player whos great to watch. However, the above is correct. 2 years in the Championship on a huge (and ultimately unsustainable budget for the league)and the combination of owner/management/coach(s)/players failed, failed totally. We finished 5th in the mostly part time 2nd tier. I would have kept Moss/Smith/Chisolm if we could afford it, but that's not to be so I'll try and stay positive and see what players and coach we do sign up before making a judgement and getting too upset by players we are not re-signing.

The new coach will be key for me, that will be the signal of intent and an indicator of who we might be able to attract like Smith attracted Moss and Chisholm. I'm keeping my powder dry until the coach and 17 for Sunday are revealed.

Just submitted FOI to BMDC asking some relevant questions regarding 2018 and its permutations - will post the results if or when I get them..

Given that he chose not to come back from his Christmas break in Australia, I suspect he was well down the list of people to talk to - by comparison with people hanging around Odsal and banging on their office door.

It's a shame, but far from a surprise

At this rate the only coach for Sunday will be the one taking Leon to the John Smith's Stadium. At least there'll be no rush for the back seat.

I did like a comment on the shudds forum about the game, someone mentioned we only have Leon signed up so far and the next comment was just "Leon always scores against us"

Leon might make a decent go of it himself - maybe some of us just need to turn up with some boots to fill out the squad.

Players back training today according to the t&a journo, so unless it's just Leon putting bombs up for himself to catch I think there are some announcements due.

All this knee-jerking before we hear what they have to say on Friday seems a bit silly to me.

Have I misinterpreted Dane's tweet?

I got the impression he hasn't even been offered a deal. It's one thing for the owners to offer a reduced salary etc, and Dane to say "sorry that's not good enough for me" - I could understand that, but it sounds to me like they haven't even bothered engaging with him at all to see if he would be interested in a reduced deal - that to me is bonkers.

We can all speculate on what may or may not have happened but I’d caution folk into believing everything you hear. We don’t know the ins and outs of Dane’s business. I’m as disappointed as the next person that he’s not coming back but we are where we are now and starting from scratch.
