Think aitchinson was released last week. Surely only one off manuokafoa/sammut will have been offered a contract initially with other getting an offer if first refuses?. Otherwise we could have a problem if both accept.

thanks for Aitchison info Mat and yes, what has been said both in the PR and on this site about the overseas contingent is a bit of a conundrum. Scott Murrell seems a strange choice when we already have a good set of hookers LFs etc, unless one of the in contracts is going to be sold or Addy/Donaldson are not staying. Good news about Gale, but we need a pack that gives him the platform.

Burrell is naturally a 6 is he not? I am sure I have seen him play both half roles when needed and in back row.with limited halves available he may be worth a year just for cover especially if we do not have more than Cain ready to step up from academy atm

He certainly played 6 when he was younger and FC will know him from Leeds.

Burrell is described as a utility player by his agent, and the KR website as as an ex 6 that is tough enough to be a utility hooker/L forward.

I would expect Ainscough to be offered a new deal as i know for a fact Omar likes him, but Franny is the one who has the final say, so who knows.

This may just be a rumour but we were linked with Scruton, which came as a surprise to most Widnes fans, I think mainly because he has been out injured for a while so was off everyone's "radar".
All gone a bit quiet, so it may be nothing. Given that he is under contract any such deal would have to be done with the Bulls agreement and involve some sort of fee (unless you are just trying to offload a player who has spent too long on the treatment table). I think this has been referred to in other threads.

Thanks WViking. Thats ironic given hes the only prop left in the 16 not out of contract, but the other issue is whether hes going to get back up to his previous best form following the shoulder operation. If his goes like Discos recovery went then fine hes going nowhere

Fielden has been a rumour i've heard. Watched him in 20s against Leeds and he didn't look good at all, but he's had alot of time out and maybe with a pre season his experience could be something we need. Only on right money though.

Think recruitment wise props and a 6 will be priority. Think we still have the makings of a decent squad but we will definitely need a few replacements.

Fielden fits the experienced player profile mentioned in the press release recently (definitely not a young loan!) and fits the commitment profile too, but as you say does he fit the bill?

I have no particular names, but with the changes to the reserve and U20's comp there must be plenty of potentially talented guys who are too good/old for the 2013 reserve grade and need to find a squad place somewhere. With the production line of talent at Wigan at the moment I'd hope we're having a conversation with our friends over at the DW to see if they have any talented youngsters they want to keep in the game by loaning to us.

And Gaskell is a great shout btw.
