| The worrying thing is that the statements from John Wilkinson sound eerily like those coming from Peter Hood earlier this year....
"Short term cash flow problems..... no danger of Administration..... once we get over the immediate future.... long term future is secure...blah, blah blah"
We've heard all that, and look what happened to us

| To me it seems the only long term solutions are for the game to become semi-professional again or merge with rugby union.

From a purely financial standpoint I can see where you are coming from - but there couldn't be a merger with RU - just abject surrender and takeover ie end of RL in the UK. If you look at recent history the RFU make the RFL look well organised, plus at a grassroots club level most RU clubs have trouble balancing their budgets. It is only the international game and sugar daddies in the premiership clubs keeping them afloat in there current state.

Unfortunately I don't work for the RFL nor do I claim to know the ins and outs of the licence system, however from the outside looking in there seems to be some faults with the system and the people who are at the helm are the ones to work out a solution.

Don't you mean "be taken over by" rather than "merge with" ?

| If Salford's woes continue should the RL community help them out too !.
(I guess Salford must have given some support for bulls financial situation !)
After the bulls woes, - maybe the same time and help has to be given to Salford AND all other clubs in future ?
RFL may be have started something they carn't stop ?

As a Bradford and RL fan, i hope any team under the same financial situation receives the same amount of help as the Bulls have done from the RFL and 'other clubs/supporters'
Not sure if you comments we're a little 'tongue in cheek' but i'm not sure what other response you were expecting from the Bradford fans?

All SL chairman voted to support them, "financially ", keep them going, till the end of the season, thats why the bulls are still hanging on to stability.!
(I admit the other RL clubs were thinking of themselves TOO !) ....but thats RL for you !.

After our administration Shambles, the RFL will not want any other teams going through the same process next season.
The RFL have not exactly reacted with lighting fast reactions to deciding if we will be in SL next year it just seems to be taking it time and with that players and the club are left in limbo for next years signings!!

That reads like the honest warning we should have recieved this time last year. Tell the fans whats going on, spend/plan accordingly, set realistic targets for the cap and performance using youngsters and get the fans on board. Different circumstance obviously, but I'd prefer that approach to ours with the benefit of hindsight.
Hope they can sort it out and avoid the cr@p we've been through.

How very refreshing to see such an open and honest assesment of a clubs situation, though depressing to see the same issues bringing another club to the edge.
It would seem the whole future of the game seems to rely on a small group of wealthy individuals being able to support the lifestyle of players agents? I would suggest introducing the death penalty for persons found guilty of acting as players agents - might tidy up a few lose ends in the Odsal saga as well!

I like the new tough stance.
It is worrying with us, salford, cas? Hull kr at least, all struggling, wakey widnes and crusaders plus others in the lower leagues been through it recently, and other clubs relying heavily on individuals. Its nothing new I guess but it does feel like its gathering pace a bit, and I've no idea what the solution is.

| The difference between us and HKR, Salford and (probably) Cas - the other clubs that seem to be heading towards an uncertain financial future - is that THEY all have wealthy owners (Cas less sure) who have been prepared to bankroll their losses.
People - including so many santimonious smug schadenfreude merchants from certain other clubs with wealthy backers (anyone noticed how few from Leeds, though? Remember that...) - have been so quick to point to Bulls as a "badly-managed" club that "overspent" - but hang on...the reason we fell over (leaving aside all the self-inflicted intra-shareholder politics) was because we did NOT have a wealthy owner to cushion the financial disaster that 2011 clearly was.
When history comes to be written, I suspect what happened to us will be seen in its proper perspective.
And, maybe, the RFL's very very robust stance with us will be seen by future generations as a desperate attempt [ipour encourager les autres.[/i Before the financial armageddon hit the SL game.
The game IS built on foundations of sand. And the sands, they are a'shifting.

Cas have traditionally had turkey dippers and ice pops from Jack Fultons to plug the gap, not sure how much he's putting into the coffers these days. I reckon they're the next club to go belly up.
