| Hi guys, first post on here but I've been reading these boards for many years now.
I wanted to know what people think of Mick Potter after his first few months in charge?
I think he has brought some order and ideas to our attacking side of play, although obviously that came with the new players aswell.
I think some of his team choices are bizarre. Not playing Briggs when he was clearly in better form than Herbert. Not playing Royston when he makes more effort than a lot of the side put together at times.
I really do wonder if we have turned the corner. The team seemed very motivated and had a new sense of direction vs Huddersfield. I hope it continues, although based on the last couple of seasons, I have my doubts.
I think Mick is very passionate about the side but at times some of the decisions he makes are somewhat questionable. Are we in a better position than we were in for example, 2009? Thoughts?

| Bizarre squad selections. Underperformance.
Some decent showings. Hoped for more, still think we could see it next year with some quality in the side.

| Regarding the Mischief-making from the Doggies CEO down under yesterday:
Quote ="Sir Connor Murphy, on that bird-noise thingie"By the way, Mick Potter's reaction to speculation he will speak to Bulldogs about coaching vacancy: "I’ve had no contact with them. Nobody from Canterbury has contacted me and I’m very happy where I am. I’m enjoying the job, the players are a pleasure and club’s great."'"

Completely agree with the above - Lets hope he is not successful with his Canterbury application!!!
IMO, Potter can only be judged after 2 seasons - the players he brings in during the off season will show where he expects the Bulls to be in 2012

| Honestly though, if the guy is flying all the way over from OZ to speak to poor coaches (Morgan, Brown etc.....) he would be silly not to give Mr P. a call and say - "Lets have a chat".
Like most, I hope this is not the case but he's probably the most successful coach out of the candidates named (In the UK)?

| I think Mick Potter needs time. Yes we've under performed this year there's no doubt about that. But on the flip-side of that we've been very unlucky with injuries.
But given that the board gave McNamara 4 years to dismantle a championship side with no idea how to put a new one together, then surely Mick Potter deserves at least something similar.
There was a big clear out at the end of last year, followed by an almost completely new team being signed. That team needed time to gel, a process that was heavily disrupted by our injuries meaning it was almost impossible to put out the same team two weeks running. However, there have been flashes of what the current team can do, certainly the game against Huddersfield stands out on that score.
Unlike most years we've not got a large amount of players on their way out at the end of the season. So far we've only got 7 players in the squad currently who are OOC, 2 of who haven't even made a first team appearance this year (Finnigan and McAvoy). I'd imagine that at least 4 of those players will get new deals.
All in all, the rebuilding of the Bradford Bulls will not be done over night and I feel we'll be a much stronger, better side come 2012

| I agree that some of Potter's decisions, certainly regarding player selection, have seemed bizarre at times but we don't know everything there is to know about the players and their fitness and I'm 100% sure Mick Potter has forgotten more about rugby league than I've ever known so he [imust[/i be allowed to at least see out his contract, ideally keep him here for a third year as well. The last thing this club needs is more disruption.

| Well I personally find Potter a more convincing head coach than McNamara and would say he needs more time to put his stamp on things. It was always going to take a while to turn things around and so it's proving.

| its a big rebuild job, and all Potter has done this year is put a bit of scaffolding around to stop the place falling down, and a few footings in. having his workmen falling off the scaffolding at regular intervals hasnt helped. I've always seen it being more than a two year job to get anywhere near, so if he stays, and just the second year, I would hope to see the succession planned so theres progression into the third year. So not just Potter, thoughts on the rest of the coaching staff?

| I dont know what to make of this year, fair enough we are round about the same position as last, and we do the same stupid things as the previous Macca years, but there seems to be something different, im not sure what it is that sets us apart from his teams but we just seem a lot better, even though statistically speaking we are not.
Im like Bullseye, I think Potter could be building something good and im quite excited by it.

That is pretty profound Mike! But I know exactly where you are coming from, and understand your point perfectly because it sums up - and very well put - how I feel too. You just summed up a lot of feelings in a very few words mate. Good one.

| I've come away from games thinking we weren't that far off a result. I've come away from some thinking we are pish and there's no hope but less than previously. I think its that impression of "we're not far away" thats different.
