It's called an ellipsis, which is in grammar and rhetoric, the omission of one or more words, which must be supplied by the listener or reader. Used in that particular instance to allude to a possibility that, so as not to cause undue offence, I didn't wish to express explicitly. Ie, that I thought the subject of the topic might not have attained the age mentioned. However, I've said it now.........
Not exactly. I answered a post about Tony Hadley without checking the next one which used the same joke that I came up with. Would have been better deleted completely but I don't have the power!!
